Nothing. Literally nothing. Not a peep.
I’ve learned that the hardest part of this industry isn’t the no’s.
It’s the silence. The tapes you send into the abyss, the ones you forget about, the ones you quietly mourn even though you never heard back... But this is the job! You pour your heart into a tape, you send it off into the ether, and then you get on with your life because 99 times out of 100… silence.
No notes. No call. No “thank you.” Just. Silence.
Yet somehow, the yes always comes.
Maybe not tomorrow. Maybe not even next month. But one day.
I’m writing this for anyone sitting in their bedroom with a tripod thinking “why do I bother?” Well, you bother, because you care.
Because somewhere out there, there is a director who has no idea yet that you’re about to be their perfect fit!
