If your child experiences sleep disturbances, emotional outbursts, poor coordination, reading or writing challenges, digestive issues, hypersensitivity, struggles with change, or is easily distracted — these can all be signs of retained primitive reflexes, specifically the Moro or startle reflex Primitive reflexes are automatic movement patterns babies are born with to help them survive and develop. As the brain matures, these reflexes are meant to integrate (fade away). When they don’t, the nervous system can remain stuck in a chronic fight-or-flight state. In this video, I’m stimulating the Moro reflex using a gentle rolling exercise. This helps the nervous system repattern and calm the reflex response over time. When the Moro reflex is retained, it’s often linked to: • sensory sensitivities • anxiety • learning challenges • emotional dysregulation • sleep difficulties • and is very commonly seen in children on the autism spectrum This work has been absolutely life-changing for our family and our autism journey, and I’m so excited to now be teaching parents: ✨ what primitive reflexes are ✨ how to test for them ✨ how to safely integrate them ✨ and other powerful tools of functional neurohealth 💬 Comment “AUTISM” below and I’ll send you more information about my membership that I am so excited to finally be sharing with you. ✨ Awareness changes everything. #Autism #AutismSpectrumDisorder #NonverbalAutism #AutismMom #MoroReflex

💥 What looks like typical “teenage girl” behavior might actually be Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In girls, autism is often missed because they are masters of “masking”—mimicking social cues to fit in—while their internal struggles are dismissed as moodiness or being “high maintenance.” ❤️‍🩹 Autism in girls is often misdiagnosed as anxiety or BPD, but the root is a different neurobiological processing style. 1️⃣ Extreme social exhaustion 👉 Not just introversion—it’s “crashing” from the mental effort of masking. If she’s “perfect” at school but has meltdowns the moment she gets home, she is likely exhausted from manual social processing. 2️⃣ Niche, intense hyper-fixations 👉 Not just being a fan—it’s a deep, technical immersion used as a regulatory tool. Whether it’s animals, psychology, or fiction, the intensity and “special interest” nature signal neurodivergence. 3️⃣ Rigid need for social “rules” 👉 Not just being bossy—it’s a need for predictability. She may struggle with “white lies” or fluid social hierarchies, leading to distress when unwritten rules are broken. 4️⃣ Sensory “pickiness” labeled as being difficult 👉 Not just diva behavior—it’s a physiological response to textures, lights, or sounds. Clothing tags or loud malls can cause genuine neurological overload. 5️⃣ Social Echolalia (Mimicry) 👉 Not just trying to fit in—she may adopt the accent, slang, or mannerisms of peers or fictional characters because she lacks an intuitive “roadmap” for social interaction. 6️⃣ Executive Function shutdowns 👉 Not just being lazy—high intelligence doesn’t prevent “brain fog.” She may excel in academics but experience a total “shutdown” when asked to start a simple multi-step chore. ❤️‍🩹 My Final Thought: Autism in girls isn’t a lack of social desire; it’s the high cost of participation. If she seems to be “performing” her life, it warrants a neuro-affirming evaluation. ❤️‍🩹 Comment “Clarity” for more neurodiversity insights.

They gaslit him into being autistic💀😂 Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition affecting social communication, behavior, and sensory processing, appearing in early childhood with varying strengths and challenges, from intense interests and repetitive movements to difficulties with interaction, managed through therapies (like behavioral therapies) and support, as it’s a spectrum with diverse presentations, not a disease. #memes #funny #autism #usareels #usa

Understanding the science of Autism Spectrum Disorder. 🧬📖 We’re diving into the evidence-based research behind ASD. It’s not just a set of behaviors; it’s a fundamental difference in brain architecture—affecting everything from chemical composition to brain lateralization. Key takeaways: Genetic Roots: Up to 80% of ASD cases have a genetic component. Epigenetics: The ‘Two-Hit Hypothesis’ explores how environment and genetics might interact. Early Milestones: Understanding risk factors like premature birth can lead to earlier support. Knowledge is the first step toward true advocacy. Experts around the world are raising serious concerns about a growing phenomenon called virtual autism—a condition where children exposed to excessive screen time, especially during the critical early developmental years, begin to exhibit symptoms that closely resemble autism spectrum disorder. We’re talking about reduced eye contact, delayed speech, social withdrawal, emotional dysregulation, and difficulty with focus and attention. In many cases, once screens are removed or drastically reduced, these symptoms improve—sometimes dramatically. That’s not to say all screen exposure is harmful, but we’re living in a time where digital babysitting has become the norm, and our children’s brains are paying the price. Little ones don’t need constant access to tablets, phones, or television—they need face-to-face connection, movement, unstructured play, nature, and real conversation. These are the building blocks of language, empathy, and emotional intelligence. Our brains were designed to develop through human interaction, not digital entertainment. Homeschooling offers the freedom to build a lifestyle rooted in connection, not distraction. It gives children space to thrive in the real world—not the virtual one. Day 9 or 30 What does an Autism Service Dog do? Cosmo performs 7 life changing tasks for his boy! FURRY ANCHOR Cosmo helps Our boy stay with his family. Having a handle to hold reduces wandering and eloping. ELOPING If our boy does wander off, Cosmo is trained to “find” our boy. DEEP PRESSURE THERAPY Cosmo applies DPT during meltdowns & high anxiety situations. Before Cosmo, meltdowns could last hours. DPT has significantly reduced that time. COMPANION He is especially helpful during medical & other appointments and provides a comforting presence. SOCIAL BRIDGE Who doesn’t want to be friends with the only kid with a dog?! Cosmo helps break down social barriers and gives our boy confidence. DEESCALATES MELTDOWNS As soon as our boy shows signs of a meltdown, Cosmo immediately runs to him and begins to lick his face. This can sometimes prevent meltdowns altogether! SENSORY INPUT Fact: Petting a dog produces oxytocin in the brain! Oxytocin Increases feelings of relaxation, trust, and empathy while reducing stress and anxiety. SLEEPING COMPANION Cosmo helps our boy fall asleep and stay asleep. #autism #autismawareness #autismacceptance #adhd #asd #specialneeds #autistic #autismmom #autismfamily #autismo #autismlife #autismsupport #disability #aspergers #autismspectrum #autismspectrumdisorder #autismparents #neurodiversity #inclusion #sensoryprocessingdisorder #autismadvocate #autismcommunity #parenting #autismrocks #autismparent #neurodivergent #disabilityawareness #autismjourney #autismworld

There is no cure for autism despite what some people will tell you . I have been told to put Oscar on a metal detox diet, probiotics and to stop screen time as doing them will cure it. I have even been told that more fresh air will cure it 🙄. Autism is a developmental disability caused by differences in the brain, and it does not need to be cured it needs to be understood and accepted for what it is. Some people genuinely do not know about it as they have never had it in their lives, but some are just ignorant and not willing to learn or accept it. But autistic people need this ignorance to stop so that they can be themselves without fear of judgement or criticism for just being themselves. *edit* I am not saying that doing a metal detox is a bad thing or that it doesn't improve health or brain function . I am saying it doesn't "cure" autism. #Asd #AutismSpectrumDisorder #Autism #AutismAcceptance #AutismAwareness #DifferentNotLess #Sen #Stimming #Neurodivergent #Neurodiverse #Neurodiversity #HiddenDisabilities

Why are Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) / joint hypermobility and neurodivergence often co-occuring? 🔷 23-46% with hEDS have ADHD 🔷 39% with hyper-mobility conditions have autism But how does a connective tissue disorder affect the brain? Theory 1: The Connectivome  Your brain isn’t just neurones floating in space - it’s built on a scaffold of connective tissue. This includes: - The extracellular matrix (structural support between brain cells) - Blood vessels and the blood-brain barrier - Meninges (protective layers around the brain) In EDS, faulty collagen doesn’t just affect joints - it affects brain structures too. This can disrupt:  → How neurones connect & communicate  → Brain development & plasticity  → Neurotransmitter regulation  → The blood-brain barrier’s integrity Theory 2: Proprioception Overload  Your brain constantly predicts where your body is in space. When it’s wrong, it sends a “suprise signal”. With hypermobile joints = unpredictable movement patterns = constant error signals flooding the brain → heightened sensory sensitivity and emotional reactivity. For those already predisposed to sensory differences, this creates a feedback loop that can amplify neurodivergent traits. Theory 3: The Blood Flow Connection  Weak connective tissue in blood vessels → dysautonomia/POTS → reduced blood flow to the brain → impacts executive function, emotional regulation, and contributes to neuroinflammation (implicated in neurodivergence). ⚠️ Mechanisms still being researched.
