MOBOPOS! It’s all about the body position (and not leaning the bike so much). It truly feels like I’m on the side of the bike, but I’m obviously not! TI“Sadulur Papat Limo Pancer” as the opening of #jaranan performance. To anyone who is even slightly familiar with the esoteric tradition, it is clear at first glance that “Sadulur Papat Limo Pancer” stands for #Kandapat, and that this ritual is about asking for permission to perform the jaranan from the Great Five (directions) - five dewas with their corresponding bhutas. The #bopos (whip-holders) performers, as the leaders of the jaranan, step down to the ground (#jengkar) (Napak Pertiwi) on the #palenggahan board. They come out of meditation to start jaranan. They perform certain movements with the #whip to four directions, to ward off all evil from them. They are invoking the four powers (of four angels in Islam - Jibril Mikail Israfil and Izroil) to prevent the disasters from fire, earth, water and air.

Generally, the purpose of Sedulur Papat Limo Pancer (Four Brothers and the Fifth Middle) ceremony is harmonization between the #microcosm (small human-universe) and the #macrocosm (large universe). The four brothers in the big universe are the four #Qiblas (or directions) that exist, namely east, south, west and north; with the additional pancer-brother which is the middle (or the center) where the human self is located. Meanwhile, the four brothers related to the small universe (humans) are what accompanied their birth. They are kakang kawah (amniotic fluid), adi ari-ari (placenta), getih (blood) and puser (placental cord), what is known as Kandapat in Bali. The fifth source is the human self itself. Sedulur Papat (four brothers) was then interpreted as the four Qiblas, with their corresponding bhutas or elements, but at the same time the natural elements that form the human body. These four ements are earth, water, fire and wind. The fifth source is the human self itself.
