And the secret behind it is your shutter speed. All give clips in this video are filmed at 24fps, but each one uses a different shutter speed. Same setup, same movement. But the feeling? Completely different. Here’s the breakdown: 1/20 → soft, slight motion blur; 1/50 → matches the 180° rule, feels natural 1/100 → sharper and cleaner, but a bit digital 1/500 → every frame is captured with almost zero motion blur 1/1000 → results in a hyper-realistic, frantic look that can feel “digital” If you want your footage to feel smooth and cinematic, follow the rule of thumb: FPS × 2 = ideal shutter speed At 24fps → go for 1/48 or 1/50 But if you want more blur (for style) or ultra-sharp frames (for sport / action) you’re allowed to break the rules. A slow shutter speed blurs motion and lets in more light. While a faster shutter speed sharpens motion and lets in less light. As a general rule, your shutter speed should be double your frame rate. So if you’re shooting at 24 frames per second (fps), your shutter speed should be set to 1/48. This helps achieve a natural motion blur that closely resembles the way our eyes perceive motion in real life. You may also adjust your shutter speed to achieve a certain creative look in camera or to compensate for lighting conditions.
