LOA Clockwork Orange, the 1971 Stanley Kubrick film, takes viewers on a disturbing journey with Alex DeLarge, played with chilling charisma by Malcolm McDowell. While the film doesn't explicitly show Malcolm undergoing anesthesia in his eyes, it does depict a horrific scene where his eyelids are held open during a controversial aversion therapy treatment.
The treatment, called the Ludovico Technique, is supposed to cure Alex of his violent tendencies. However, it involves forcing him to watch scenes of extreme violence while he's bombarded with nausea-inducing drugs. To ensure he doesn't look away, devices pry his eyelids open, essentially leaving his eyes vulnerable and irritated throughout the ordeal.

CIStanley Kubrick decided to stop showing “A Clockwork Orange” in the UK in 1973, just two years after its release. The film had caused a lot ofcontroversy because of its violent scenes. Some crimes in Britain were linked to the movie, and many people blamed it for influencing bad behavior. As the backlash grew, Kubrick and his family started receiving threats. Although he didn’t regret making the film, he became concerned forhis family’s safety. So, he asked for the film to be withdrawn from UK cinemas. It remained banned there for nearly 30 years, only returning after Kubrick passed away in 1999.

Alex y su banda viven la violencia como juego y estilo. El Estado, buscando “corregirlo”, lo somete a un método de reprogramación. La película se vuelve el choque entre dos horrores: el del individuo que goza dañando y el de un sistema que decide qué es un ser humano aceptable.
• La violencia como coreografía: no es realismo sucio; es ballet, puesta en escena, ritmo. Eso vuelve al espectador cómplice e incómodo.
• Sátira política sin bandera: Kubrick no se casa con nadie: muestra el sadismo de Alex, pero también la hipocresía de la autoridad, la ciencia y el moralismo.
