At the moment, it can be observed with binoculars, best seen from the Southern Hemisphere, near the star Spica in the constellation Virgo. ☄️ Comet C/2025 R2 is brightening rapidly and may soon become visible to the naked eye from both hemispheres in October. The comet is 93 million miles away and near its peak brightness. It’s quite bright at magnitude 6.5 and should be easy to see with binoculars. Unfortunately, it’s only visible from the Southern Hemisphere. The timelapse shows its movement over 99 minutes and the photo used 15 mins of total exposure time. There was a Full Moon when this photo was captured, once the Moon goes away later this week, it should put on an impressive show!
