You can’t leave because your mind is conditioned over time… through gaslighting, mixed signals and constant confusion to doubt itself more than the behavior in front of you. Every conversation leaves you questioning your reality, your memory and your worth. And YES, this happens to intelligent, strong, independent, deeply empathetic people all the time… because those are the ones they target. You can’t leave because they never take responsibility. You’re labeled as “too much,” “too sensitive,” “too dramatic,” until you learn to make yourself small to so they can feel big. You can’t leave because they use silence as punishment. Distance as control and show affection only when they want something or feel you slipping away. That isn’t love, it’s actually breadcrumbing, just enough to keep you attached. You can’t leave because you want to keep believing this time will be different even when apologies come without real change. You can’t leave because they slowly train you to mistrust your intuition and feel guilty for needing clarity, respect or consistency. And you can’t leave because they only show love when you adapt, comply and stay quiet. And if you don’t, they play the victim and twist the narrative, so and you end up apologizing for reacting to years of abuse and disrespect.
