There is room for TWO peoples here but there is no room for making history up. Don’t tell us Jews are not indigenous to Israel; help us find solutions for living together. You can say Muslims have lived here for decades but don’t ignore pan Arab colonisation. Muslims came to Judea as a colonizing power with one of the biggest colonizing empires in history. Jews coming back to the land of Israel is the biggest successful decolonization project and an example for all. I won’t repeat myself, facts don’t care about your TIKTOK history #bye . . . #israel #jews #indigenous #decolonization #israelis

Coming in at #4 for our top videos of last year: ''Religion was a weapon being used to colonize.'' The words we choose and their meanings are deeply influenced by our colonial history. Our past, along with the events and decisions we've made, is closely linked to our language. In some countries, certain words are now considered inappropriate, and many advocate for changes, recognizing that language evolves with society. However, awareness of these issues is often not as advanced as it should be. For instance, the word 'black' (or 'Zwart' in Dutch) frequently carries negative connotations, associating it with notions of badness, illegality, or evil. To become more aware of the conditioned behaviors within ourselves and our surroundings, we must also examine our spoken language. Language is one of our primary forms of communication and can be a vehicle for bias, prejudice, and often unnecessary harm to those around us. We encourage you to reflect on why you choose certain words. Who influenced your language choices? How often do you notice that others might feel offended or hurt by the words you use? What alternative words could convey your meaning more effectively? ° ° ° ° ° ° ° #amenti #amentimovemeant #movemeantmethod #selfawareness #selfrefleftion #decolonization #influence #black #language #selfimage #colonial #history #communication #words #association #negative #religion #harm #environment #innerwork

Decolonization isn’t just about land—it’s about dismantling harmful structures like the strict gender binary too. True liberation means honoring all identities and breaking free from colonial constraints. Let’s create a world where everyone can exist as their authentic selves! Language is one of many ways we express culture, but like other cultural aesthetics (e.g. visuals, cuisine, music, etc), it is a by product of a dynamic process. Symbols are not static; their meanings shift. They should help us access inner realities, but to say that words like “kapwa” and phrases like “bahala na” are ONLY “Filipino” experiences may be a surface-level understanding. Just because we have words for it doesn’t mean we’re the only ones who can experience these human realities. So, even seemingly “western” symbols and words can help us access “indigenous” realities, ESPECIALLY if we’re already coming from the indigenous worldview. We see this in the way a folk healer uses Latin prayers in their practice, how we “Filipinize” foreign words (such as “commute,” “rubber shoes,” and “comfort room”), and how we localize foreign influences in our cuisine (think dishes like pancit and lumpia). In liberating our psychology, use the tools that work—but remember: it would be unproductive to force concepts, terms, and frameworks that may work great for one culture but won’t work for another. “Western” ideas that are critical of imbalanced power dynamics can be surprising sources of support. #decolonization

There were TOO MANY white women coaches 👱🏻‍♀️ in the DMs yesterday sending me messages like this. First of all I’m tired of you. Second of all it is actually very easy to put words like “decolonization” and “liberation” on a pretty graphic, call it a day, and think you support a liberated global south — but without the actual offline work (ie: CLOCKING the language on this graphic) this is liberal performance. It’s black square. This is the problem with the (mostly white) spiritual industrial complex — so many of you are coaches who have enough money to travel to the global south — India, Bali — for your plant medicine retreats, and are REALLY good at marketing, but are not actual embodied when it comes to shared struggle and de-centering. Holding the organizers (I was in convo with @rachaelmaddox) accountable to changes they will make for this strike — Palestinians have said that multiple of these coaches who co-signed to this are straight up liberal z!0s.

We’re talking feminist theory on science, colonization, plants, and the book Botany of Empire by Banu Subramaniam. Also, for a bit more detail on this idea of a ‘masculine’ lens, I want to emphasize that competition isn’t inherently masculine and cooperation not inherently feminine! But things generally tie back to the capitalist systems we live under, that reward traditionally masculine norms, and devalue things like care work, which is dominated by women. So It’s about a symbolic association, but definitely not biology. #booktok #decolonization #feminism #ecology #botany

Repost from: @heytherebenji Some thoughts on “vote now, organize later.” The question is not whether or not it’s a good idea. It’s a very good one, objectively. But are we being realistic about where we are with that? I’m glad we can acknowledge the system is bad, but because the system is bad, it will never help us dismantle itself. Are we prepared for that? Are you ready for the world you say you want? Because the fight doesn’t stop at the ballot box. I’m not telling you not to vote. I’m also not telling you how to vote. What I’m saying is, be who you say you’re going to be. Understand that November 5th isn’t the heavy lifting. It’s everything after. And if you’re not gonna show up, I don’t think you get to talk to people about what their civil duties are. At that point, you’re just grandstanding, and we get enough of that from politicians. Also, an apology: the captions on this refused to work. ____________________________________________________ #exfundie #exvangelical #exvangelicalcreative #exvangelicaljourney #deconstruction #deconcommunity #deconstructingfaith #deconstructionjourney #decolonization #decolonizeyourmind
