What does? Iteration (planning, building piece by piece, refining with intention), taste (executing on a clear and scoped vision, not just vibes), and actually testing before you move on instead of patching it after the fact.
I used to run user tests off clickable prototypes, then hand off designs when they felt ready. But while waiting, I would immediately move to the next UX design challenge. By the time the feature was really usable, going back and fixing it felt like the opposite of progress.
We are all moving faster than ever and so we have more ability than ever! The label “design engineer” or “indie builder” means nothing. The process is everything.
