Python teeth are a masterpiece of natural engineering. Unlike human teeth, they’re sharp, curved backward, and constantly replaced. A single python can have 60 to 100 teeth on each side of its jaw — not for chewing, but for gripping prey and never letting go. Once prey is caught, those backward curves make escape nearly impossible while the snake slowly swallows it whole. Even damaged teeth aren’t a problem — new ones keep growing throughout the python’s life. One glance inside their mouth reveals millions of years of evolution working flawlessly. Powerful, precise… and a little terrifying. #python #snake #animals #generalknowledge #reels No copyright infringement intended. For education and Entertainment only. Please DM for credit/removal

Snake venom is one of those things that sounds purely dangerous, but in science it has become an unexpected source of innovation. What evolved as a hunting and defense tool is actually a complex cocktail of proteins and peptides that researchers have learned to study, isolate and transform into medicine. One of the most famous examples is captopril, a drug developed in the 1970s after researchers studied the venom of the Brazilian pit viper Bothrops jararaca. Scientists discovered peptides in the venom that affected blood pressure regulation, which eventually led to the creation of ACE inhibitors, now widely used to treat hypertension and heart failure. A lethal bite indirectly helped save millions of lives. Venom components have also inspired anticoagulants and clotting agents. Some snake toxins prevent blood from clotting, which has helped researchers design drugs to reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks. Others do the opposite and promote clotting, which can be useful in surgical settings where controlling bleeding is critical. The same biological mechanism that immobilizes prey can be carefully redirected to protect human patients. Beyond the cardiovascular field, scientists are studying venom peptides for potential applications in pain management, cancer research and even neurological disorders. Because venom molecules are highly specific in how they target receptors and ion channels, they act almost like microscopic precision tools. That specificity makes them incredibly valuable for understanding how our own nervous system works. It is fascinating to think that something designed by evolution to paralyze, disrupt and kill can also heal when placed in the right hands. Snake venom is a reminder that nature does not create good or evil substances. It creates powerful chemistry, and it is up to us to understand it #poison #snake #aivideo #aiviral #snakelovers

Huge python comes out of a couple’s toilet. In regions close to wetlands and wildlife corridors, encounters like this can happen without warning. As the massive snake began emerging from the toilet drain, both the husband and wife panicked, shouting and backing away in fear. Areas near the Florida Everglades are known for unexpected wildlife encounters, reminding residents how close nature can be to everyday life. Invasive Burmese python swallowing a blue heron in Florida. The Florida Everglades have been dealing with the growing threat of invasive species like Burmese pythons for some time now. The pythons are taking over the land and ultimately killing so many of the native species. This growing problem is of major concern for the preservation efforts of the historic wetlands. . . . . A python was found inside a household closet after entering the home in pursuit of prey. In parts of Australia, snakes regularly move through suburban and urban areas, especially when food sources such as possums are present. Enclosed indoor spaces can provide warmth, cover, and a temporary sense of security for a hunting snake. Australia’s native wildlife often overlaps with human environments. Pythons are non venomous constrictors that follow scent trails and movement, not buildings or property lines. When prey enters roof cavities or wall spaces, snakes may follow without distinction between indoor and outdoor territory. After feeding, the snake was safely removed by professionals and relocated to nearby bushland. This approach reduces risk to residents while allowing the animal to continue its natural behavior elsewhere. Situations like this highlight how wildlife movement is driven by opportunity rather than intent, even in highly developed areas.

Firstly, yes that is (or was) a rat 🐭. I buy them frozen in large packs which I then leave on the counter for a few hours to thaw before feeding to my snakes. The rodents don’t come back to life. Snakes have to eat, and this is the food that is nutritious for them. I don’t participate in live feedings unless it’s absolutely necessary. Now that we’ve got that out of the way… So THAT fleshy thing that opens and closes is a snakes glottis - a fascinating and vital part of its anatomy, located at the back of its tongue. It acts as the opening to the trachea (the snakes windpipe), allowing the snake to breathe. Unlike humans, whose glottis remains in a fixed position, a snake’s glottis is highly mobile and can extend outward, especially when the snake is consuming large prey. The glottis ensures that the snake can continue breathing even when its mouth is entirely occupied with swallowing food. Additionally, the glottis is equipped with a small, valve-like structure that can produce a hissing sound by forcing air through it, serving as a defense mechanism. 👅 🫁
