ZAFirst breakdown vibe coding an animated custom typography and moving it into Framer. So I constantly was trying to find a way on how do I animate custom typography designs on the web.
I’ve used to make a lot of custom typography designs multiple times, and I used to make them in After Effects. Each time trying to bring in a custom typography design, there was some line art tracing the paths over each letter, and then using trim paths over each letter and use that as a mask. This used to be my workflow, my process for animating every single custom typography.
But when I got into Framer as the main design software that I’m using right now for all interactive designs, After Effects has been more complex for me to integrate into Framer because now I cannot make animations in After Effects and move them into Framer unless if I export them as Lottie files, which will be very complex.
So I thought, what if a simplest and smoothest workflow I can use natively in Framer that would allow me to animate custom typography designs? And then I figured out it’s very simple. It’s actually involves some vibe coding. I don’t even need to be a pro coder.
All you have to do is just try to draw something in Procreate and Illustrator, like make a custom typography, export it as an SVG, and then upload it to any LLM. I use ChatGPT in this video. It generates a TSX file using a very long prompt that I have fine-tuned and tested multiple times.
After I get the TSX code, I go to Framer to add a new code file, and then I paste the code that ChatGPT gave me. And now I have it. I have an animation living inside Framer. I’m able to adjust the colors and everything smoothly and at no issues.
I’ve actually made a Notion page that really shows the process behind doing this kind of animation. It’s very simple. Just comment the word “prompts” or DM me the word “prompts” to get the free resource.
