How to download the iOS 18 developer beta
To install the iOS 18 beta, you'll need an iPhone XR or later, including the iPhone SE 2020 and 2022. Note that Apple Intelligence features will only work on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Before you install the beta
Make sure to back up your iPhone in case anything goes wrong and you need to return to iOS 17.
Sign into Apple's developer site
Go to Apple's developer site.
Tap the menu bar in the upper left corner, then tap Account.
Sign in with your Apple ID when prompted.
Check for software updates
Launch the Settings app.
Tap General, then tap Software Update.
Select the iOS 18 developer beta
If you're up-to-date on iOS:
The iOS 18 developer beta may already be available.
If not:
Tap Beta Updates.
Select iOS 18 Developer Beta from the list.
Download the beta
Tap either Update Now to start downloading immediately or Update Tonight to delay until later.
Enter your passcode if prompted.
The download will begin.
(Note: Ensure your iPhone is connected to a charger as downloading can take a while.)
Install the beta
Once downloaded, you'll be prompted to install it now or later.
After installation, your iPhone will restart.
Enter your passcode again.
iOS 18 will be installed and ready to test.
