So far in this massive fantasy map, the Chaharian prince tried to kidnap the Taean princess leading to several series of retaliations by both the Chaharians and the Taeans. Eventually, war broke out. First, the Chaharians went to Del Anŷn to call upon their ancient brotherhood and ask for aid in the war against Taealar. After this, the Alani requested that the Taean King would come to the dwarvish capital, fearing an attack from the elves. Together, the Alani-Taean alliance created the first rifles and brought them to the Chaharian battlefield. The Chaharians and Anŷn quickly realized that they could not combat this new technology. After a disastrous recon mission, the Chaharians finally had the resources necessary to create their answer: the artillery canon. This balanced the playing field, then the Anŷn decided to draw the Alani away from the battle by attacking Alân Khûl head on.

Behold! Baby’s first fantasy map! I had an absolute blast getting to draw this map for @alix.e.harrow’s new book, The Everlasting! Alix wanted a map that was low on actual navigational practicality and high on ✨vibes✨ and I said say no more 😎
Around the border of the map is also every single one of Sir Una Everlasting’s quests. We wanted the map to be something that as the story progresses, the reader can keep coming back to point at stuff and go “omg I get it now!” It was heaps of fun, and I can’t wait for you all to find your way around this new world 😌✨

MAI built this mini map in about an hour. Most of it came together fast with the Fantasy Map Builder and the new Stormpine trees. (Coming this Friday 🔥)
Just added a bit of simple coloring and shading to bring it to life.

PIAngefixt! Wir haben dieses DIY ausprobiert, für das man nur Reis, ein leeres Blatt und einen Fineliner braucht. Den Reis kippen wir auf das Blatt, schieben ein bisschen hin und her, bis die Form uns gefällt und umranden dann locker die Reishaufen. Lasst einzelne Reiskörner unbedingt liegen, die werden zu tollen kleinen Inseln. Wenn alles umrandet ist, runter mit dem Reis und tadaa, fertig ist die Grundform für die Fantasy Map. Für einen bestimmten Look oder eine Stimmung lassen wir uns auf Pinterest inspirieren, hier findet man unter dem Suchbegriff Fantasy Map auch tolle Zeichenbeispiele für die Landschaft. Wir starten immer mit Wellen rund um die Inseln, das macht schon richtig viel her und dann gehts direkt los mit dunklen Wälder, unüberwindbaren Gebirgen und allem, was wir uns sonst in unserer Welt wünschen. Burgen, Seeungeheuer - alles klein Problem und es macht einfach richtig viel Spaß! Probiert es gern mal aus, es ist wirklich eine tolle Beschäftigung - und danke an mein Teenager-Kind für die Inspiration und dass ich deine Karte zeigen durfte.

FRThere is thinking outside the box, and then there is using your breakfast as a cartography tool. 🍊🎨 You watch her paint a flattened mandarin peel and think, "This is just going to be a sticky mess."
But when she lifts the peel, the genius of it instantly clicks. 🤯 The jagged, random tears of the fruit skin create perfectly organic coastlines that are almost impossible to draw by hand. She didn't just make a shape; she let nature design the continent for her.
Watching it transform from a fruit stain into a full Lord of the Rings style fantasy map, complete with mountain ranges and a compass, is oddly satisfying. She essentially terraformed a new world while getting her Vitamin C. Who else is immediately running to the kitchen to try this? 🗺️
