How we, as the custodians of Britain, make further progress towards lasting peace 🕊️ We are all guilty of taking peace for granted, forgetting its absolute fragility. For many, conflict feels removed, distant, or consigned to the history books. Today, it brings me no joy to say, there is war in Europe, fierce tension between North and South Korea, a flippant and revengeful US President, a rampant gen*c*de in Palestine, and conflict and warfare taking place across the world 🌍 Peace for you, is not peace for all. Peace in the United Kingdom, is not peace for all. Peace is reliant on universal freedom from violence ☮️ For me, today is about looking back in order to think ahead. It is a moment of reflection which should inspire us into action. It is a history which we must not allow to repeat 🌱 Global peace is hard. It requires endless effort and hard work, but it is the least we can do. Protecting parents from losing their children, families from being torn apart, loved ones from being lost, and our communities from scarring, must be a priority.
