Save the cat, by Blake Snyder is hands down the best book I've read on writing a screen play which I interpreted into a graphic novel format.

Look back on my reels tips about "The Beat Sheet" Blake uses which will transform your writing.

Second book is "Making Comics," by Scott McCloud

It gave me incredible insight into the bones of comic book writing. Thanks @reneetreml for that recommendation...

Third book is "Panel One: comic book scripts by top writers," edited by Nat Gertler.

It was utterly fascinating as everyone does it their own way and you have to find your way.

JIDon't put off your dreams of making comics! My Making Comics class is designed to jump start you.
It's starting on Monday, November 25th at The Comic Bug in Manhattan Beach. I'm going to be teaching in the real world (not on Zoom), in person again, thank God! It's a 12-week class just like a college continuing education class. Writers and artists can both take it. The artists will finish a 10-page minicomic and the writers will finish a 15-page script. We'll discuss story structure, visual storytelling, page design, everything you need to know to make comics. And you'll read and study some great comics along the way.
