Here, we assess esophageal movements in patients with complaints like difficulty in swallowing or food sticking by performing HRM (high resolution) esophageal manometry, helping diagnose the causes of difficulty in swallowing. 😊 Sometimes, in complaints related to defecation disorders, we also diagnose the underlying condition by evaluating patients’ anal functions using anorectal manometry. 🤓 📹✅Today, I wanted to share a pleasant procedure where we diagnosed type 2 achalasia in a patient with difficulty in swallowing through esophageal manometry. 🤗 Being able to provide accurate and effective solutions to our patients with these types of diagnostic methods is invaluable to us. 🙏🏻 I wish you a healthy and enjoyable weekend! Anorectal manometry sounds intimidating, but it’s actually one of the more straightforward GI tests I’ve done. For those of us with EDS, POTS, or chronic constipation, pelvic floor dysfunction is common — and it’s often missed. Not everything is solved with fiber and “just drink more water” Sometimes it’s coordination. Sometimes it’s nerves. Faulty connective tissues and Dysautonomia can have a profound effect on these mechanisms. Testing gives direction. Direction gives options. It’s a smaller surgery, but surgery nonetheless & I was scared after all my others! 😱 😳 But no complications, 👏🏻& Today was a big test day. 💙 🌟I had a venogram/angiogram with manometry of my head and neck to check for jugular vein compression and to better understand what might be causing the intense pressure, headaches, and pulsatile tinnitus I’ve been dealing with. 🌟While I was still under anesthesia, a second doctor performed an IVUS (intravascular ultrasound) of my iliac veins (the major veins that carry blood from the legs back to the heart) to look for compression there and see whether it’s affecting one side or both. Why all this testing? Because we’re trying to get clear answers. These studies will help determine how significant the vascular compression is and whether any further intervention — including possible stenting or surgery — is actually needed. The good news: everything went smoothly. 🙏 I’m home, sore, very tired… and very grateful for the prayers and support today. I’ll share results in the next video. 🫶🏻 For now, I’m resting and giving my body the week it needs to recover. 💗 ❓Questions? Have you ever had to go through extensive testing just to get answers? I highly recommend that this test be a gold standard prior to any bariatric surgery. Yes its uncomfortable but its so necessary. The things you may want to know about a 24 hour Manometry and PH impendence study. I have done this before and I will say the afterwards of this one has been the worst and I have had mutliple feeding tubes etc before as well as this study. You can and will get through it.
