Comment “panic freedom” to join tonight’s FREE live session with therapist Joe @freedom_from_panic (Wednesday February 11th at 6PM GMT) in Anxiety Fitness. You walk into a shopping centre… your chest tightens your vision feels weird your legs feel weak your brain says “what if this is it?” So you turn around. You leave. You tell yourself you’ll try again another day. If you deal with panic disorder or agoraphobia, this cycle can become your world. It’s not just “being anxious in public.” It’s the fear of the sensations. The fear of losing control. The fear of not being able to escape. The fear of fear itself. Tonight, BABCP Accredited Psychotherapist Joe — who is also a former panic disorder & agoraphobia sufferer — is hosting a live session: Panic Disorder With Agoraphobia | What It Is & How to Beat It He’ll break down: • How panic disorder with agoraphobia actually develops • Why avoidance strengthens the cycle • The fundamentals of overcoming it • What real recovery looks like This isn’t about “just calming down.” It’s about understanding the pattern so you can finally break it. If you’re tired of planning your life around escape routes, this is for you. Comment panic freedom and we’ll send you the details.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗧𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗔 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸 ⠀ Well, you can’t. My bad. This is because nothing is actually attacking you. That said, when people panic, it’s because of an adrenaline flood and limbic system response. When this catches us off guard, or makes us feel out of control, we can begin to fear it. ⠀ 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿, 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂! ⠀ Panic eases when we fear it less. We eradicate 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳 and we build the skill of wilful tolerance, which is the way out of a lot of anxiety disorders 😊 ⠀ I say this as someone who was diagnosed with panic disorder, OCD and GAD. I know what it feels like when the world feels detached from you and you’re simmering in a soup of horrendous dread. You’re not alone - there is always a positive way out 😊 #panicattack #panicattacks #panicdisorder #panicrelief #anxietyattack #traumarecovery #anxiety #anxietyrelief #mentalhealthmatters #therapistsofinstagram

Comment “panic freedom” to join paychotherapist Joe’s (@freedom_from_panic ) live session on panic disorder with agoraphobia on Wednesday, February 11th 6:00 PM GMT A lot of us are taught that the best way to help during a panic attack is to reason, reassure, or tell ourselves to calm down. But panic doesn’t work that way. When panic hits, the brain is in a threat response. Fear circuits are highly activated, and access to calm, rational thinking is reduced. That’s why logic, reassurance, or trying to “talk yourself out of it” often makes the panic feel worse, not better. What actually helps is understanding what’s happening in your nervous system, learning how to regulate your body first, and responding to panic in a way that doesn’t feed the cycle. This is exactly what Joe from @freedom_from_panic teaches in his upcoming session. Joe is a BABCP Accredited Psychotherapist and also someone who has personally recovered from panic disorder and agoraphobia. He understands panic from both a clinical and lived experience perspective. In his session, Panic Disorder With Agoraphobia | What It Is & How to Beat It, Joe breaks down: – what panic disorder with agoraphobia really is – why panic feels so intense and convincing – how the fear cycle develops and maintains itself – and the core principles that help people recover and expand their lives again This session is primarily for people who experience panic themselves, but it’s also incredibly helpful if you want a deeper understanding of what’s actually going on when panic shows up. Comment “panic freedom” and I’ll send you the details. February 11th, Wednesday at 6:00 PM GMT

What a panic attack can look like. 1️⃣ Not all panic attacks look the same. Symptoms vary from chest pain, to a choking sensation, to intense fear and derealization. Sometimes, you won’t even know someone is having one. 2️⃣ Panic attacks are common. Every year, about 1 in 9 Americans experience a panic attack. You are not alone. However only a small percentage of people develop panic disorder, which consists of recurrent and unexpected panic attacks, persistent concern about additional attacks, and a significant change in behavior related to the attacks. 3️⃣ Treatment exists! Therapy, medication, and other options exist to treat and cope with panic attacks and panic disorder. There is hope ❤️ 📒 Source: National Institute of Mental Health, Cleveland Clinic ------------ If this video resonated with you, please share it with a friend. I’ve recently welcomed so many more of you lovely folk onto my page so wanted to share a few things that have been asked for… First up, my very first book baby 📕😄 (I have so far written & published 5 in multiple languages and another is hopefully on the way 😉) ‘’Breaking Mad: The Insiders Guide to Conquering Anxiety’’ totally catapulted me into the self-help book arena and nobody was more shocked and delighted than me when it went straight into the Amazon No.1 best seller spot (a serious pinch me moment for me & my publishers @bloomsburypublishing ) This is the book that I wish I could have read when I was suffering with, and subsequently diagnosed with, generalised anxiety disorder and panic disorder in my 20s Several years later, and as a trained and qualified coach and therapist, I wanted to share my tools, techniques with a massive dose of empathy and a needed hug through my words, personal experience & training. This book is a real entry level for anyone who is experiencing poor mental health, particularly anxiety. Everybody has mental health, and anxiety is the world’s most common mental health challenge. I don’t believe in one size fits all, I recognise that everybody is different, everybody’s experiences shape their life, feelings and emotions differently to the next. And I do not judge. Breaking Mad has sold thousands and thousands of copies all over the world and it is very much available @amazonuk @bloomsburypublishing and anywhere you get your books 📚 #breakingmad #author #selfhelp #anxiety

The biggest thing I’ve learned in my life with panic disorder is figuring out what tools works best for each individual person. For me personally, you can call me Picasso 👩🏽‍🎨 🎨🖌️ It’s important for me to talk about my experience with panic disorder to help reduce the stigma & to let people know they’re not alone. While I’ve found some tools that work for me, like drawing, everyone’s experience with panic will be different 🖤 & that’s okay. My social anxiety would happen when meeting new people, with colleagues or even at family gatherings. My heart would race, my hands would sweat, and sometimes I thought I might faint. I’m worlds away from that level of panic now, because therapy has given me the tools and techniques to deal with it when it shows up. I’m sharing my mental health journey as part of the NHS Talking Therapies campaign to raise awareness of common but often misunderstood anxiety conditions. This includes social anxiety disorder, as well as others like PTSD, OCD, panic disorder, phobias and body dysmorphic disorder. Nearly 6 in 10 people affected by these conditions have put off seeking help because they worried ‘it was not serious enough’, so I really want people to know that treatment is available - it's free, confidential and effective. For me, reaching out for support was one of the best decisions I made. If any of these conditions are impacting your life, you can refer yourself for NHS Talking Therapies at nhs.uk/talk.

World Mental Health Day 2024 💚 With over 20 years of personal development (🇫🇷le développement personnel) through psychotherapy, healing journeys, and energy work, I understand the complexity and difficulty of living with mental health disorders. I want to continue being vulnerable with this community. If you’re struggling with your mental health, I see you. I feel your pain (🇫🇷votre douleur). Seek the 💪support (🇫🇷le soutien) you may need and have hope that you’ll be OK. Mental health (🇫🇷la santé mentale) struggles are incredibly common, and if you’re suffering (🇫🇷vous souffrez) you’re definitely not alone🫶. Here are some frequent mental health disorders that you or people you know might be facing: –la dépression = depression –la dépression saisonnière = seasonal depression –la dépression périnatale = pre- and postpartum depression –l’anxiété généralisée = generalized anxiety disorder –le trouble de stress post-traumatique = post-traumatic stress disorder –la phobie sociale = social anxiety disorder –le trouble panique = panic disorder –le trouble bipolaire = bipolar disorder –le trouble obsessionnel-compulsif = obsessive compulsive disorder –le trouble de la personnalité limite = borderline personality disorder 💬How’s your mental health? What do you do to support it? Poem translation: I entwine my pain so that it might dwell in me forever My sorrow, I learn by heart, tracing it with my fingers I embrace my suffering, it clothes my wounded heart My grief, I weave into tears, I cradle it, I drink it in What destroys me feeds me, like a growing fire Light, tell me, do you hide there, deep within my flesh You can find the French transcript of this poem on yesterday’s post. . . . #French #LearnFrench #FrenchPoem #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealth #SantéMentale #Glossaire #GlossaireCategoryMentalHealth #GlossaireWordSantéMentale

This is something people don’t talk about enough. Not every panic attack looks like hyperventilating or running out of a room. Sometimes it looks like this: - Going completely still - Feeling stuck in your body - Mind racing but body frozen - Unable to speak - Watching everything happen but not fully able to respond The “freeze” response is a real nervous system state. It’s not weakness. It’s not you being dramatic. It’s your threat system doing its job, just at the wrong time. Tonight (Thursday, Feb 19 at 7PM GMT) I’m speaking live with licensed therapist Michelle Stiles - @panicandanxiety , who specialises in panic disorder, agoraphobia, OCD and anxiety using evidence-based exposure therapy (ERP). We’re talking about: - What panic actually is - Why your body reacts the way it does - How exposure therapy really works (including interoceptive exposures) - How to stop fearing your own sensations This is a live conversation inside the Anxiety Fitness Community, with optional audience Q&A at the end (educational only, no personal clinical advice). If you’ve ever felt trapped in your own body during panic — this one’s for you. Comment “live podcast” and I’ll send you the details. You’re not broken. Your nervous system is just trying to protect you. Let’s understand it properly.
