അതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് ലളിതമായി താഴെ പറയുന്ന രീതിയിൽ വിവരിക്കാം:
1. ഭക്ഷണത്തിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകത
സൈനികർക്ക് കഠിനമായ ജോലി ചെയ്യേണ്ടി വരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട്, അവർക്ക് നൽകുന്ന ഭക്ഷണം കലോറി (Calories) കൂടുതൽ ഉള്ളതായിരിക്കും. സാധാരണയായി ഒരു സൈനികന് ഒരു ദിവസം ഏകദേശം 3000 മുതൽ 4500 കലോറി വരെ ലഭിക്കുന്ന ഭക്ഷണമാണ് ക്രമീകരിക്കുന്നത്.
2. ഭക്ഷണ മെനു (Menu)
സൈനികരുടെ മെനു ഓരോ ആഴ്ചയും മുൻകൂട്ടി നിശ്ചയിച്ചതാണ്. ഇതിൽ താഴെ പറയുന്നവ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു:
• ബ്രേക്ക്ഫാസ്റ്റ്: പൂരി-സബ്ജി, പറാത്ത, മുട്ട (ഓംലെറ്റ് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ പുഴുങ്ങിയത്), ബ്രഡ്-ബട്ടർ, പാൽ, ചായ എന്നിവ സാധാരണയാണ്. ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യൻ റെജിമെന്റുകളിൽ ഇഡ്ഡലിയും ദോശയും ലഭിക്കാറുണ്ട്.
• ഉച്ചഭക്ഷണം: ചോറ്, ചപ്പാത്തി, പരിപ്പ് കറി (Dal), ഒരു പച്ചക്കറി വിഭവം, തൈര് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ സാലഡ് എന്നിവ നിർബന്ധമാണ്.
• ഡിന്നർ: രാത്രിയിൽ സാധാരണയായി ഉച്ചഭക്ഷണത്തിന് സമാനമായ വിഭവങ്ങൾ തന്നെയായിരിക്കും. കൂടെ മിക്കവാറും ഏതെങ്കിലും മധുരപലഹാരങ്ങളും (ഉദാഹരണത്തിന് ഹൽവയോ ഖീറോ) ഉണ്ടാകും.
3. വെജിറ്റേറിയൻ & നോൺ-വെജിറ്റേറിയൻ
സൈന്യത്തിൽ എല്ലാവർക്കും ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളത് തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാം.
• നോൺ-വെജ്: ആഴ്ചയിൽ രണ്ടോ മൂന്നോ ദിവസം ചിക്കൻ, മട്ടൻ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ മീൻ വിഭവങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാകും.
• വെജ്: പനീർ വിഭവങ്ങളും മറ്റ് പോഷകപ്രദമായ പച്ചക്കറികളും അവർക്ക് ലഭിക്കും.
4. റേഷൻ വിതരണം
സൈനികർക്ക് ഭക്ഷണം സൗജന്യമാണ്. അവർക്ക് ലഭിക്കുന്ന റേഷൻ സാധനങ്ങളുടെ ഗുണനിലവാരം (Quality) പരിശോധിക്കാൻ പ്രത്യേക ഓഫീസർമാരുണ്ട്. വളരെ വൃത്തിയുള്ള അടുക്കളകളിലാണ് (Cookhouse/Mess) ഭക്ഷണം പാകം ചെയ്യുന്നത്.
5. യുദ്ധകാലത്തെയും മഞ്ഞുമലകളിലെയും ഭക്ഷണം
സാധാരണ മെസ് സൗകര്യം ഇല്ലാത്ത സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ (ഉദാഹരണത്തിന് കാർഗിൽ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ സിയാച്ചിൻ പോലുള്ള സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ) ഭക്ഷണം പാകം ചെയ്യുന്നത് വെല്ലുവിളിയാണ്.
• അവിടെ Ready-to-Eat (RTE) പാക്കറ്റുകൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു.
• ഇത് ചൂടുവെള്ളത്തിലിട്ട് ഉടനെ കഴിക്കാൻ സാധിക്കും.
• ശരീരത്തിന് ചൂട് നൽകുന്ന ചോക്ലേറ്റുകളും ഉണക്കമുന്തിരിയും അണ്ടിപ്പരിപ്പും ഇത്തരം സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ അധികമായി നൽകാറുണ്ട്.
