Bien que cette substance ne contienne pas de PFOA, un PFAS interdit et classé cancérogène, les associations dénoncent l’absence d’informations sur les risques environnementaux et sanitaires potentiels liés au PTFE tout au long du cycle de vie des produits. 📌 Le Centre international de recherche sur le cancer (CIRC) classe le PTFE comme «inclassable quant à sa cancérogénicité pour l’homme», faute de données suffisantes. ⚖️ Tefal rappelle que les autorités sanitaires, au Canada, en Australie ou en France, confirment la stabilité et la sécurité du PTFE. Mais que se passe-t-il réellement une fois ces produits collectés ? Une étude européenne chiffrée apporte un éclairage très clair sur le sujet — et explique pourquoi Pranacook a fait le choix de l’inox sans revêtement. Une étude officielle sur les déchets de revêtements antiadhésifs (PTFE) Le rapport “Fluoropolymer waste in Europe 2020”, publié par ProK en janvier 2023, analyse précisément les filières de traitement des déchets de fluoropolymères en Europe, dont le PTFE (polytétrafluoroéthylène), matériau emblématique des revêtements antiadhésifs de type Téflon. Selon ce rapport : 83,5 % des déchets de fluoropolymères collectés en Europe sont incinérés ou détruits thermiquement. 3,4 % seulement sont orientés vers une forme de recyclage, au sens large du terme. À l’intérieur de cette fraction, le recyclage mécanique classique (celui utilisé pour les plastiques recyclables comme le PET ou le PE) représente moins de 0,5 %. ➡️ Résultat : pas de recyclage mécanique viable, pas de boucle matière fonctionnelle, le revêtement est séparé du métal, puis détruit, le plus souvent par incinération. Autrement dit, lorsque l’on parle de “recyclage” d’une poêle antiadhésive, c’est le métal qui est recyclé, pas le revêtement.
