MI1️⃣ I used to be a pushover due to my Catholic Muslim upbringing which ingrained religious guilt in me. Now my "no" is a complete sentence.
2️⃣ I have a savior complex. Now I’m a recovering “fixer” and I’m selective about who gets my energy. It can be hard bc I love helping everyone.
3️⃣ I used to prefer solo traveling. Now? I want someone to share the sunsets with.
4️⃣ I never wanted kids and I’ve never regretted it, though many said I would. I love being a “Funtie.”
5️⃣ I’ve been single for most of my life. I have never experienced being loved and maybe I never will.
6️⃣ I didn’t truly cry from my soul until my late 30s. I never experienced a full range of any emotion because being logical was my coping mechanism. Now, I am learning to feel everything.
7️⃣ I’ve navigated depression, PTSD, and a late-in-life ADHD realization .... all after being SA. I am coming to terms with the fact that I may never get over any of it. I am learning to live with it as my new normal.
8️⃣ I’m the one in my Asian family breaking the "save face" cycle. Choosing my mental health over the generational trauma was the hardest boundary I ever built. It was worth it.
9️⃣ I walked away from a legal career that took so much from me. I traded a "stable" job for one I am passionate about, and I’ve never felt more alive.
1️⃣0️⃣ I went back to school and was the oldest person in the room. It was hard and humbling. I’ve realized my maturity is my greatest competitive advantage.
1️⃣1️⃣ I would get frustrated at how many times I have had to start over in life but now realize it's my super power. One that allows me to help so many others.

JOWhen someone used to ask me for a favor, I used to go over no questions asked. Part of it was me thinking "I needed the practice" or that I was hoping for a reference in return.
But over time I realized these favors were me doing actual WORK. Unpaid time out of my day. I was using the skills I charged people money for - for free- and I had to have a serious talk with myself.
The days of doing things for free are over. I was a push over and a people pleaser. Not saying I won't do someone a favor, but at the end of the day I'm a carpenter and a handyman with skills that other people don't have.
I need to make sure I am always compensated for my time.
