Quantum Mechanics is the branch of physics that describes how nature behaves at the smallest scales — atoms, electrons, photons, and other fundamental particles. Unlike classical physics, where objects have definite positions and speeds, quantum mechanics reveals a reality that is: • Probabilistic — outcomes are described by probabilities, not certainties. • Wave–particle dual — particles behave like waves, and waves behave like particles. • Quantized — energy exists in discrete packets called quanta. • Non-classical — particles can exist in superposition (multiple states at once) and become entangled across vast distances. At its core, quantum mechanics replaces deterministic motion with a mathematical wave function that encodes all possible states of a system. When measured, this wave function appears to “collapse” into one definite outcome. It is the foundation of: Transistors and modern electronics Lasers MRI scanners Quantum computing Semiconductor technology In essence, quantum mechanics is not just a theory of tiny particles — it is the framework that governs the microscopic architecture of reality itself.

Quantum mechanics studies the tiniest particles—electrons, photons, quarks—that make up everything in the universe, from stars to galaxies. It’s the hidden rulebook of space and matter. In black holes, neutron stars, and the early universe, quantum effects like superposition and entanglement shape how matter behaves. Even dark matter and dark energy might be influenced by these tiny forces. Empty space isn’t really empty. Quantum fluctuations and vacuum energy drive the expansion of the universe and helped form galaxies. From the smallest particle to the largest galaxy, quantum mechanics connects all of space.

Quantum Computing Basics: Tensor Product Let’s dive into quantum with one of the fundamental operations: the tensor product ⊗ We often omit the symbol of it: |0> ⊗|0> ⊗…⊗|0> = |00…0> Assuming tensor product inside What is Tensor Product? In quantum computing, the tensor product combines multiple quantum states into a single, larger system. It’s key for representing multi-qubit states. The size of combined system grows exponentially 2^n where n is the number of qubits. The more qubits you have, the larger gap between time performance of classical and quantum computers. Why does it Matter? 💡 **Quantum Gate Operations**: Used to apply gates to multi-qubit systems. **Entanglement**: Describes entangled states, where parts of the system are interconnected in complex ways. Understanding tensor products is essential for exploring the vast possibilities of quantum computing. #quantum #quantumphysics #quantummechanics #physics #mechanics #science #math #mathematics #qubit #quantumgate #quantumcomputing #TensorProduct #riodejaneiro #Entanglement #QuantumGates #tech #FutureTech #academia #academy #study #lecture #university #education #researcher #professor #lectura #lecturer #teacher #victoriaporozova #vquantpost

Quantum computers can solve certain complex problems faster than classical systems by using quantum search algorithms. Instead of checking possibilities one by one, these algorithms use quantum superposition and interference to narrow down correct solutions more efficiently. For large search spaces, this can reduce the number of required steps compared to traditional methods. This advantage applies to specific problem types and highlights how quantum computing can complement classical computing.

Google’s quantum computer did something that would take our fastest supercomputers 10 SEPTILLION years... in just five minutes! Let me break down how that’s even possible. Our normal computers, work with bits - basically tiny switches that are either ON or OFF. That’s it. Just 1s and 0s. Let’s say you wanted to crack a password with 10 characters. A regular computer would have to try each combination one at a time - that could take years! But a quantum computer? It could try all possible combinations simultaneously. It’s like having millions of computers working in parallel! This is possible because quantum computers use qubits, which can be ON and OFF at the same time. I know, I know. How is that possible? Well, this is where things get REALLY interesting. Researchers use individual atoms, super-cooled to near absolute zero - that’s colder than space itself! At these temperatures, atoms start behaving according to quantum mechanics, where the normal rules of physics just... don’t apply. But here’s the catch - it’s INCREDIBLY difficult to maintain this quantum state. Think about trying to balance a pencil on its tip... while riding a bicycle... during an earthquake. That’s STILL easier than keeping qubits stable! Scientists call this problem “decoherence.” Right now, the best quantum computers have about 100 working qubits. But here’s something wild - a quantum computer with just 300 qubits would be able to perform more simultaneous calculations than there are atoms in the observable universe! And the coolest part? We’re just scratching the surface. #tech #technology #stem #futuretech #futuretechnology

My Quant background began my freshman year of college researching Game Theory. My research involved creating psuedo code in the form of algorithms to find Nash Equalibriums in Quantum Mechanics. Quantized Game Theory is different since QM has different rules for which how simulations can be ran. Here I had to utilize quantum information theory a my foundation to calculate payoffs. Quants use game theory in market making, auctions, and optimal execution, where participants choose strategies to balance profit, risk, and information leakage. Concepts like Nash equilibrium, mixed strategies, and repeated games help model bid–ask spreads, order placement, and inventory management under competition. Game theory also informs models of information asymmetry, where traders infer others’ private information from order flow. By treating markets as strategic games rather than passive systems, quant finance builds more robust pricing, execution, and risk models.
