On Presidents’ Day, I’m reflecting on leadership that inspired a generation.
Barack Obama represented intelligence, class, composure, and undeniable presence. The way he spoke, the way he carried himself, the way he represented America on the world stage — it felt presidential in every sense of the word.
The entire Obama family embodied grace and dignity while still keeping that authentic swag. That balance isn’t easy — but they made it look effortless.
Leadership matters. Character matters. Representation matters.

NEIn Fresno, California, an all-Black fire crew is responding to calls, saving lives and showing up in a community where representation matters. They say people are always surprised to see them. In areas like the city's west side, one firefighter says they get to interact with a lot of kids that look like them.
"I think that's important for those kids to see us. A full crew, full of African-American firefighters, being out there, serving the community." Another crew member echoes that sentiment, saying, "I know I didn’t see that growing up. And maybe I would have gotten into this earlier if I was able to see it."

MEI had such a great time meeting @gogogoda at the Rock Hall Pirates and Wenches weekend!
People always ask if I'm a children's entertainer, while I love performing for kids, It's my preference to bring out your inner child.
I grew up with constant narratives about what I couldn't do because of my weight. Weight loss was dangling in front of me my whole life as a golden ticket for living well. Any dream I had, had a weight related prerequisite.
It is my honor and mission to be out in the world living well, happy, vibrant, beautiful, successful and FAT. I hope to bring magic to the inner children of folks who got the same messaging I did. Representation matters and I like being a joyous surprise for folks.

ALGrateful for the conversation on Channels Television reflecting on what it meant to carry the flag at the 2026 Winter Olympics not just as a moment of pride, but as a reminder of responsibility.
I also felt compelled to say this to my fellow citizens of Nigeria: yes, our nation is complex, sometimes exhausting, and often not for the faint-hearted. But when we step outside our borders, we are no longer just observers of Nigeria, WE BECOME NIGERIA in the eyes of the world. Representation matters. Integrity matters. Everyday conduct matters.
Carrying that flag ultimately reminded me that peace is not an event; it is a practice. A daily decision to humanize before politicizing, to listen before labeling, and to create spaces through sport, art, education, or policy where dignity is non-negotiable.
And most importantly: none of us carries peace alone. We carry it collectively through conversations, friendships, collaborations, and simple gestures that remind us we belong to one another. The Olympics gave us the moment. The real work is continuing it long after the stadium lights fade.

Anok Yai accepted her Model of the Year award with a message that meant everything:
“To all my little Black girls, your color is not a curse, you’re not a trend, you’re not unfortunate. You are worthy and more powerful than you can ever imagine.”
She also took a moment to speak on the massacre happening in her home country of Sudan, using her platform to shine light where the world too often looks away.
The next generation shouldn’t have to fight this hard to feel seen. Dark-skinned girls deserve to grow up knowing they’re beautiful without qualifiers — not in spite of anything.
And in this moment, she made sure they felt seen. 🖤
