Imagine - you’re in a 30 person line for confession, what do you do?? Instead of getting frustrated or annoyed, here are 5 worthwhile steps to use that time for prayer and to prepare your heart for receiving His mercy: 1. Pray for the other penitents in line - you’re all here for the same thing! Offer prayers that their hearts are open to reviving His mercy and forgive those who need to be forgiven. 2. Express gratitude - how beautiful is it that we have so many people wanting to come to Him asking for forgiveness!! This is truly such a beautiful gift. 3. Read a spiritual book - instead of scrolling on your phone, continue to stay in a mentality of prayer. There are many short prayer books to consider, such as Jaque Philippe or many saints. 4. A deeper examination of conscious - look deeper into this past week or month to fully prepare for His mercy. It’s okay to forget in the confessional, but an intentional examination opens your heart to seeing your need for His mercy. 5. Sit in the silence- let the Lord speak to you! How often do we allow ourself to listen to Him rather than just talk to Him? Regardless of how you spend your time in line, know the Lord is rejoicing to have you come to Him. At STA, you can experience His mercy in the confessional on: Tuesday from 9-10am Thursday from 6-7pm (includes adoration)* Saturday from 2:30-3:30pm *except Pange Lingua nights from 7-8pm Come receive His mercy, He’s waiting for you in the confessional 🤍 #confession #reconciliation #godsmercy #stthomasaquinas

Most people don’t know this about prayer: it doesn’t whisper—it breaks iron. Acts 12 isn’t a bedtime story. Herod sets the execution. Peter is chained, guards posted. The Church has zero plan… except one. They pray. Hard. All night. And heaven answers with an angel, light, and doors that open by themselves. Have you ever wondered why some chains never move? We talk, strategize, scroll, worry—then give prayer the leftover five seconds. What if that’s why the gate stays shut? Real talk: prayer is not passive. It’s warfare. That’s why the early Church refused to stop. And that’s why religious leaders who loved control hated Jesus—He taught hearts to cry to the Father, not to perform for crowds. Controversial? Good. Because you’ve tried everything else. Try the thing that moved an iron gate. Your midnight problem, your addiction, your fear—bring it into the furnace of prayer. Get specific. Get loud. Get humble. And don’t stop when you feel nothing. That’s the moment heaven starts moving. What would YOU have done in that locked room—keep praying or give up? Drop your answer below. Prayer isn’t just a religious habit—it’s relationship. God invites us to speak honestly, bring our burdens, and share our gratitude because He desires closeness with us. When we pray consistently, intimacy with Christ grows, and our hearts become more aligned with His. Remember, God isn’t distant—He’s listening. #jesussaves #prayer #intimacywithgod

Most people rush the Our Father — but the Church teaches us to pray it slowly, on purpose. Begin with the Sign of the Cross. Not as a habit — but as a decision to stand before God. “Our Father” Prayer starts with relationship, not fear. God is Father, and we never pray alone. “Who art in heaven” God is near — yet wholly other. Prayer balances intimacy and reverence. “Hallowed be Thy Name” This isn’t flattery. It’s surrender: may my life reflect Your holiness. “Thy Kingdom come” A request for conversion — personal, social, eternal. “Thy will be done” The hardest line. Trust placed above control. “Give us this day our daily bread” Both physical sustenance and the Bread of Life. “Forgive us our trespasses” Mercy received — but never hoarded. “As we forgive those who trespass against us” This line costs something. Prayer reshapes the heart. “Lead us not into temptation” A plea for strength, not isolation. “Deliver us from evil” Hope spoken out loud — evil does not get the final word. End with the Sign of the Cross. Prayer begins and ends in Christ. Save this if you want to pray the Our Father with intention — not autopilot.

Most people don’t know this about prayer: it doesn’t start by calming the storm. It forges you to walk into it. Gethsemane wasn’t quiet. Torches. Steel. Betrayal. And Jesus? He prays until sweat like blood. Then the impossible—He heals a man while soldiers close in. Have you ever wondered why He left the garden stronger than when He entered? Prayer didn’t remove fear—it transformed it into obedience. It didn’t make Him comfortable—it made Him unstoppable. This is why the Pharisees hated Him and the disciples froze: after prayer, He carried authority that didn’t need a sword. Mercy under pressure is terrifying. If prayer doesn’t change you, are you praying or negotiating? “Not my will” is the doorway. Step through. Wait for it. Watch how your storm starts obeying—not because it shrinks, but because you do. What would YOU have done—swing the sword or heal the enemy? Comment below. Tag someone who needs to see this. Acts 21:39, original 1769 KJV – “Paul said: I am a Jew, born at Tarsus of Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: I pray you, suffer me to speak to the people.” (1 Kings 2:17 is another example that is clearer in modern KJV translations. You can check this one in the Bible app!) Here, Paul is making a request of the Roman commander, not worshipping him. 1. In the original, 1769 KJV (Protestant) translation, “I pray you” simply means “I ask you.” Yes, prayer can be a form of worship when it’s directed to Jesus, but to say that the word ‘pray’ is exclusively defined as worship is Biblically inaccurate. Historically, it is also commonly used in the context of making a request. Catholics, and some high Protestants, still use the word this way today. 2. When Catholics “pray” to Mary or the saints, they are lifting up their prayer intentions and ASKING them for prayer (hyperdulia & dulia). Worship (latreia), on the other hand, is reserved for God alone. Protestants are right that worship of anyone other than our Trinitarian God is strictly forbidden. This practice is encouraged, but not deemed a requirement by the Church. 3. Too often, a narrow definition of “pray” is used as an excuse to be uncharitable and closed-minded. This goes both ways. Protestants aren’t mind readers. They define prayer in the modern sense, and that is not a subtext that should be ignored. Catholics should focus on responding charitably and assume some of the burden of proof, rather than defending terminology Scripture already makes clear. 4. Intercession is Biblical. Look to Scripture for examples of intercession. In 1 Timothy 2:1-4, Paul urges “that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people.” Similarly, in Revelation 5:8 and 8:3-4, we see the saints in heaven offering our prayers to God, represented as incense. As Hebrews 12:1 mentions, we are surrounded by a “great cloud of witnesses.” These saints in heaven are not “dead”, but are fully alive in Jesus’ body. There is no need for petty division in the Body. Jesus desired that we may all be one (Jn 17:21). Use this to grow in charity, not to become blinded in bitterness.

🍏Being stuck is not a bad thing, in fact it’s usually the very thing God uses to bring us closer to Him. 🧚🏽However, sometimes we need a little push and encouragement. So here are three things I recognize when I am stuck and can’t seem to get anywhere in prayer. (Reminder that prayer is 🐝not a marathon nor is it a competition, move at the pace God is calling you to) . ✨Surrender Sometimes we can’t advance anywhere in life because we refuse to surrender. It’s better to fight and be in control because “you know” what will happen if it’s in your control. Well, not everything has to be figured out by you and everything is not supposed to be on your shoulders. Surrender is to get us back in alignment with the one who knows it all and does it all. . 🪲Disobedience You might feel stuck because your season is the consequence of your disobedience to God. Well be encouraged because everyone in the history of the human race (except Jesus and Mary) disobeyed God to some degree. Acknowledge your mistakes and work to accept His unending mercy. . 🫧Perfectionism Simply put, your own perfectionism might be the very thing making you stuck in your prayer life. Do we ever acknowledge like prayer isn’t for us to “feel good?” It’s for us to connect to God regardless of how we feel. No prayer is wasted, perfect or imperfect. You might be stuck because you refuse to acknowledge that you are imperfect and therefore your prayer isn’t going to be perfect all the time. . #catholic #christian #explore #catholicism #explorepage #viral #viralvideo
