MHFinishing off an armhole or neckline with internal binding is one of my faves!
Fold in the pesky corners in the bias tape before folding the tape to the inside for a perfectly smooth finish with no sticky-out bits!

SEHow to Sew That Thing | Episode 2- how to finish an armhole (or neckline)! This is for the concealed bias tape method, where you don’t see the bias tape from the outside of the garment. You can use it on armholes or necklines and it’s such a nice way to finish the raw edge!

I rarely cut or mark individual pattern pieces on the floor. Instead I lay them out, pin them and roughly cut them out. I gently fold up and take back to my desk for precise cutting and marking.

While I’m down there I will take advantage of some long lines like the skirt pieces on this dress. But my main aim is to be off the floor as soon as humanly possible. 😂

Ever ask yourself… how am I going to place my pattern on this print?

Prints can be tricky. No-one wants a misplaced flower on their top or bottom.
.
Here’s a clever idea when placing pattern pieces on a large print. Cut out card or paper in the shape of the pattern and move it around on the fabric till you find a good placement.
.
Always try to keep your pattern straight grain marking on the straight grain of the fabric.
.
Lastly, once you decide on placement remember to place all your patten pieces up the same way. ⬆️

SE😱 Stop weakening your princess seams!
👸🏼 When assembling princess seams, most sewists rely on clipping into the curves to make the pattern pieces match. If that sounds like you, then let me tell you: doing this actually weakens your fabric and seam integrity 🫠
🌿 So let me teach you a smarter, stabler and safer way to ease curved seams!
Sew a line of stitching just inside your seam allowance before assembly, and only then clip the curves. This stabilizes the fabric while allowing the curve to form perfectly.
