So they replay it, obsess over it, beat themselves up… thinking that punishing themselves will finally make them feel better. It never does. 2️⃣ The Identity Born From “I’m Not Good Enough” They pushed, strived, achieved, made more money, built success… But it was all built on top of a wound. They constructed a life that constantly requires massive energy just to avoid feeling the original belief: I’m not good enough. This type of burn-out can lead to depressive feelings. 3️⃣ The Inner Boy Who Is Still Hiding And Hurt Time does not heal what is avoided. Men who are depressed have a wounded inner boy who has been waiting inside of them for years to hear: “It’s not your fault.” “I’m right here. “Everything is going to be okay.” Until that part of him is loved back into the whole of who he is, the depression stays. Most men DON’T need more motivation. They don’t need another coach online telling them to think positive, go outside more, or just *decide* to feel better. They need resolution. Often times, people who are depressed are the most stubborn. It’s like they keep trying to walk down a path that they have poured their energy into… refusing to see that it leads to a dead end. (They are also often the most caring, heart centered people as well who have a tendency to put others first at the expense of themselves). The refusal of this truth is what keeps them stuck in a cycle of depression. Resolution comes from shadow work. Shadow work is the behind the scenes look at what your subconscious is doing to keep you “safe” that is in direct opposition to what you actually want. after 1000 hours of dr Joe Dispenza meditations here’s what I learned 1. Shadow work is keeping you stuck ✅Revisiting the past to gain awareness and insight- this is valuable ❌Reliving the past over and over again telling the same story- this is keeping you stuck Im not saying it can’t be helpful- I have personally done a ton of IFS therapy and found it so helpful for insight and healing. But that’s it- i then take that insight and implement change. 2. Emotions are the real magnet You don’t manifest what you want- you manifest what you repetadley feel. Your emotional state IS the signal and the quantum reflects it back. As dr Joe says- change your energy, change your life. What he is really saying is change how you feel. 3. Reprogramming is a skill In order to change we must erase the old program and recode ourselves for our future. This takes practice, Consistency and repetition. It is the only way. 4. Manifestation is about wholeness I used to manifest- things, outcomes situations from a place of lack without even knowing. BUT now i manifest by the feeling of wholeness, freedom before even trying to create anything. Wholeness is everything. I love when people ask me about healers and shadow work. What does “doing the work” really mean. There’s a huge difference between self care and personal development. Self care looks like face masks, massages and staying in when you’re sick. Personal development and “shadow work” is looking at patterns you keep on repeating. It’s the reflective work when you sit with a professional whether it’s a healer or a therapist (not ChatGPT) and you dive in on your patterns/triggers/wounds. Most people might not know this but dating is a huge mirror. You will quickly notice what you attract, what’s being reflected back to you, what patterns you keep performing and see what you need to work on. The best dating advice I could ever give anyone is this… work on yourself first and then watch how much easier dating gets ❤️

Happy birthday, Erykah Badu! In May 2024, Badu sat down with Rapsody and spoke candidly about shadow work: the practice of confronting the disowned parts of the psyche. The term traces back to Carl Jung, who described the “shadow” as the parts of ourselves we push away or don’t want to admit are there. When we ignore these parts, they tend to show up in unhealthy ways—through defensiveness, bad habits, or hurting others. But when we face them honestly, they can become a source of freedom. Badu doesn’t sugarcoat it. Facing your own flaws takes immense integrity and willpower. But without that self-examination, our actions stop matching our values. She has long been open about her spiritual path, which has fittingly included ceremonial work with ayahuasca. Especially in guided settings, psychedelics can lower our mental defenses and make it easier to feel buried emotions and do that shadow work. As Badu suggests, knowing yourself helps you break destructive patterns. And breaking them allows you to love with more awareness and intention. “Why do I keep acting like this?” “Why am I so mean?” “I feel terrible.” I used to be the “chill” girl. I pretended things didn’t bother me. I prided myself for wearing my laid back attitude. Until suddenly that version of me started slipping through my fingertips. Because she was fake. She didn’t actually exist. The “chill girl” started to turn into the “angry daughter.” I would snap at everyone over the smallest things, I was always in a bad mood and it felt like the world was on fire. When I would get angry it felt like like someone has taken over my body because it would go from 0 to 100 with no warning. I always felt very shameful after every outburst. I blamed myself for not being able to handle my emotions better. I knew I wanted to change but I couldn’t stop myself. I would tell myself I would “try harder” but the more I surpassed the louder the outbursts got. The more angry I felt. And for a long time, I didn’t understand why. But when I finally started doing the real work - somatic therapy + parts work. I realized: It wasn’t me who was angry. It was the teenager in me. The one who had to stay quiet. The one who learned early on that speaking up just made things worse. The one who never felt heard - so she stopped trying. So as an adult any time I felt unseen, unheard, or overwhelmed that anger would pop up to protect that younger version of me. This is because we store our unprocessed emotions in our body. Once I stopped trying to control and ignore it, and I started asking this younger version of me what she needed, I held her space for her and I learned to FEEL my anger in a healthy way… The rage filled teenager got quiet. Because she finally felt seen. And when that happened- I did too. I’m no longer the angry girl. I am the boundary driven, self assured, emotionally intelligent girl who knows that her SHADOWS AREN’T BAD- they are tools and messengers. But I had to go THROUGH, to get to. 🎯 Prayer, forgiveness, accountability, meditation, shadow work, boundaries, no contact, tears, anger, worthlessness, fear, depression, therapy for a FEW good years until I started to realize that I was healing ...sumtimes it felt like a never ending cycle, CIRCLE. 💡 It wasn't pretty! But I BET it is now! WORTH IT! I called my power back to me, took control over my life, righted my wrongs, apologized to certain parties involved & moved in good faith!
