THThere are many ways to terminate the soffit at the end of a run. Sometimes I cut it and bend it up a bit. Sometimes I cut it off and put the scrap cut off under to space it out so it doesn’t have a void and get pushed in. In this case it was just easiest for me to hold it up and bend it over with my hand - no tape measure, no tools, quick and easy without sacrificing quality.
It’s a good idea to know multiple ways to execute the same task in your job. Then as you approach each situation, quickly decide which method is easiest for that situation. Efficiency is getting a task done with the least resistance (sometimes that may be the least number of steps, sometimes it may be more steps, but having each step much easier).
If you’re used to doing things only one way, I encourage you to try other ways. It doesn’t hurt to try, if it’s met with more resistance, then you can always resort to your previous methods.
