HOI have been cooking so much and trying to make a variety that I’ve run out of idea ideas on what to cook!
While walking through my local supermarket, I found packages of thin cut steaks labeled as “sandwich steak.” It inspired me to try something new.
Here is my take on a steak sandwich with a garlic herb butter. I topped my sons with mozzarella and mine with a mix of mozzarella, Swiss and Gruyère. My husband’s had the same cheeses as me and I added caramelized onions for his plus arugula for both of us. It came out so cheesy and crunchy! 🤤 😋
Steak sandwiches are great because you can add whatever toppings you want, and it will taste great! 👍🏼🙂

1_Steak Sandwich with Creamy Sauce 🥩🥪🔥
Juicy steak, melted cheese, a rich homemade sauce, and a perfectly runny egg. Simple, quick, high in protein and seriously satisfying — proper comfort food.
Ingredients:
Sauce:
• 2 tsp whole grain mustard
• 3 tsp mustard
• 3 tsp ketchup
• 4 tbsp Greek yogurt
• 2 garlic cloves (very finely chopped or pressed)
• 30 g onion (very finely diced)
• 30 g pickles (finely diced)
• ½ tsp smoked paprika
• ~½ tsp cayenne pepper (or less)
• a pinch of dried tarragon
• salt and black pepper
Sandwich:
• 1 bun (I used ciabatta, but any works)
• 1 steak (ribeye/entrecôte)
• 2 slices cheddar
• 2 slices gouda or mozzarella
• lettuce
• 2 slices tomato
• a bit of onion (finely chopped or in thin slices)
• 1 egg
Preparation:
1. Mix all sauce ingredients until smooth and well combined.
2. Spread the top half of the bun with the sauce, add cheese (cheddar + gouda or mozzarella) and bake or air fry until melted and slightly golden.
3. In the meantime cook the steak on a hot pan to your preferred doneness (salt and pepper). Let it rest, then slice into thin strips.
4. In the same pan fry an egg with a runny yolk.
5. Spread more sauce on the bottom half of the bun. Add lettuce, tomato, and onion.
6. Place the sliced steak on top, then the fried egg.
7. Close the sandwich, cut, and serve.
Juicy, creamy, crispy and packed with flavor.
