RIOur favourite — Idiyappam (String Hoppers) — just got way easier to make !
I used the electric string hopper machine from @summer_snooow and it’s honestly a total game changer.No more hand pressing or sore arms — just load the dough, press the button, and it neatly pipes out perfect idiyappam in seconds!
Here’s how I made them: 👇🏽
Idiyappam Recipe:
Ingredients:
📌3 cups rice flour
📌1½ tsp salt
📌Hot water (as needed)
Method:
1️⃣Add the rice flour and salt into a bowl.
2️⃣Mix well and gradually add hot water.
3️⃣Stir well with a wooden spoon and Knead into a smooth, soft dough.
4️⃣Load the dough into the electric string hopper machine.
5️⃣Press the button and pipe onto idiyappam mats.
6️⃣Steam for 10 minutes until soft and cooked.
I served mine with:
📌Dhal curry
📌Boiled eggs
📌Beef curry
📌Pol sambol
