CO20 YEARS AGO TODAY: Taking Back Sunday’s “Where You Want To Be” was released on July 27th, 2004. The album’s lead single, “A Decade Under The Influence” would become the band’s breakout track, later being pushed to alternative radio and MTV’s TRL.
The album moved 163,000 copies in its first week, debuting at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart, where it remained for an additional 19 weeks. This was the band’s first album to feature Fred Mascherino (@thecolorfred) as lead guitarist/backing vocals, and Matt Rubano (matthewrubano) on bass.
“A Decade Under The Influence” started out with a riff written by founding guitarist, Eddie Reyes (@eddiesundaytbs). Frontman Adam Lazzara (@adamdamnlazzara) wrote the song after a breakup, and is about someone who realizes they understood less about the world than they originally thought.
