It improves focus, reduces stress, and enhances memory; it's scientifically proven to be one of the best learning methods 2 Inever reread my summaries/ lectures/notes repeatedly. Rereading is passive, d renall constantly testing is passive, and while it feels efficient, it's not. Instead, I used active recall, constantly myself until I could explain concepts without notes. Research shows that 84% of students use rereading as their primary study method, but it's proven to be the least effective and efficient (meaning more time spent for worse results). 3 Inever read entire books. Professors rarely test you on every single page of a book. I focused on the 20% of key content that yields 80% of the learning results (Pareto principle). That's efficient learning 4 Inever took notes in class I realized that dividing my attention between writing and listening was a trap. I actively participated in class discussions, asked questions and then used effective learning tools like Oreate Al to organize my notes afterward. My favorite part of this tool is the deep research feature, which can deeply read and analyze all my learning materials, helping me summarize and synthesize information Most importantly, it supports multiple languages! Not only English, finally there is a study tool for students of minority languages! The learning notes organized by Oreate Al can also be smart-edited, polished, rewritten, and de-Al-fied. I only regret not discovering this tool sooner. Called "Ultradian Rhythm" Use it to your advantage: THE 90-MINUTE BLOCK: MINUTE 0-5: Setup → Phone in another room → Water bottle ready → Only ONE subject books → Clear desk → Timer set: 90 minutes MINUTE 5-90: DEEP WORK → Study ONE topic only → No switching subjects → No phone checks → No bathroom breaks (use before!) → PURE focus MINUTE 90-105: FULL BREAK (15 min) → Walk around → Stretch → Snack → Water → REST completely Then REPEAT for next 90-minute block DAILY SCHEDULE: BLOCK 1 (Morning): 7:00-8:30 AM: Hardest subject (90 min) 8:30-8:45 AM: Break (15 min) BLOCK 2 (Morning): 8:45-10:15 AM: Second subject (90 min) 10:15-10:30 AM: Break (15 min) BLOCK 3 (Afternoon): 4:00-5:30 PM: Practice problems (90 min) 5:30-5:45 PM: Break (15 min) BLOCK 4 (Evening): 7:30-9:00 PM: Revision (90 min) TOTAL: 6 hours of REAL study! WHY 90 MINUTES? Too short (30 min): Don't get into flow Too long (3 hours): Brain exhausts 90 minutes = Perfect sweet spot! → Enough to go deep → Not so long that you burn out RULES FOR DEEP WORK: 1. Due to lack of time, you skip sections because they seemed unlikely. Then exam day hits and that exact topic is worth 20% of your grade. WHY THIS KEEPS HAPPENING Most students study reactively instead of strategically. They guess what’s important based on what the professor emphasized or what appeared on past exams. But professors know students do this, so they deliberately test the topics everyone assumes are safe to skip. The students who never get caught off guard aren’t the ones who studied everything equally. They’re the ones who used practice tests and past papers to identify patterns, then made sure they had at least baseline coverage of every possible topic. HOW TO NEVER GET BLINDSIDED AGAIN Use practice exams to see the full scope of what could be tested. Identify your weak spots early and drill them with active recall. Make sure to cover the syllabus in its entirety, not just the topics you think are “most likely.” Research shows that practice tests don’t just help you study better. They also help with finding out what you don’t know so you can fix it before it costs you marks. The worst feeling in an exam isn’t struggling with a hard question. It’s realizing you could have prepared for it but chose not to.
