If you’ve been working out for a while, but lack in the pectoral department, do these 3 things 👇. 1. Manipulate Angles Beyond Flat and Incline Most people only rotate between flat bench and a single incline setting, but you can bias different chest fibers by slightly adjusting the bench (15°, 30°, 45°). • Low incline (15–20°): Upper chest with less front delt takeover. • Mid incline (30–35°): Balanced upper chest/shoulder load. • High incline (45°+): More shoulder involvement, but still chest if controlled. Try rotating angles weekly to fill in upper-chest gaps. ⸻ 2. Use Constant Tension Movements Instead of letting gravity take stress off the pecs, pick exercises that keep tension throughout the range. • Cables > Dumbbells for fly variations (no “dead zone” at the top). • Machine presses allow you to push closer to failure safely and keep chest fibers firing without joint strain. • Technique tip: On cable flys, cross your hands slightly at the peak to force full contraction. ⸻ 3. Stretch-Loaded and Mid-Range Movements Fullness often comes from developing the stretched and mid-range positions of the pecs. • Dumbbell fly with extended stretch: Lower slowly and pause 1–2 seconds at the bottom. • Weighted dips (slight forward lean): Extreme stretch for lower pec fibers. • Smith machine press with pauses just above the chest: Builds density in the mid-range.
