This window always annoyed me! Even though the ceiling height is the same as most of the rest of my home (11 ft. high) the builders decided to put a tiny window in this room! 🤦🏻‍♀️ It was not in my budget to replace it, so I decided to get creative instead and make this small window look larger by using a shade, professionally styled curtains and window grids. ✨ Comment SHOP and I’ll send you the links to everything I used.

Our patio door was so boring before… completely see-through, zero privacy, and honestly just felt unfinished. I kept wishing we could swap it for a vintage door, but that just wasn’t in the budget. So I tried this window film from @artscape_design_studio (we used the Victoria pattern) and I’m still not over how good it looks. It gives that leaded glass look, adds privacy, and still lets all the light in (just without the blinding glare)… and the craziest part is you can actually feel the texture of the design. It looks so luxe. It was also way easier than I expected… I did the whole thing in about 10 minutes. If you’ve been wanting more privacy but don’t want to lose natural light, this is such a good option. Thinking about painting your white vinyl window frames black to match the modern “black window” trend? You may want to think twice. We’ve recently had several homeowners call us after buying a house where the previous owner painted the exterior vinyl window frames black to make them look more modern. While it might look great at first, the problem is vinyl window frames were never designed to absorb that much heat. When dark paint is applied to white vinyl frames, the sun heats the frame much more than it was designed for. Over time this extra heat can cause the vinyl frame to warp or twist, which then leads to problems like: • Windows that won’t open or close properly • Windows that no longer line up correctly • Locking issues • Drafts and poor sealing Once the frame warps, it’s often difficult to fully correct because the window frame itself has changed shape. We’re not saying every painted vinyl window will fail, but it’s a risk many painters don’t warn homeowners about. If the frame warps later, that trendy paint job could turn into a very expensive mistake. Before painting vinyl windows dark colours, it’s always best to understand the potential issues first.
