Toes to Bar (TTB) 3. A Snatch It’s safe to say it is 100x harder than it looks and I need a few more lessons😂 it’s the concentration on the snatch for me, what a good student I am🙈 Who has tried CrossFit? For others in our community, rucking and fitness has had a great impact on their lives and well being. One of those people is a dear friend of ours, Chad Belger, and we want to share his story. Chad is an Army veteran, firefighter, fire instructor, CrossFit coach, and founder of Recovery RX. “For a really long time, fitness was the only reprieve I had from the chaos that my life had turned into. For an hour or two hours a day, I could train hard enough that I’d be forced to be present with what I was doing, in the gym or on the road. Physical challenges have a way of putting your problems in perspective. If you go for a run or a ruck with a problem on your heart, 30 minutes later you’re thinking more about your feet hurting than you are about the problem. That problem is bullsh*t. Fitness, and rucking in particular, are a way for people to find connection and community they might not normally find. Group suffering forms bonds that are rare in our world today. CAN YOU DO IT? The 10 min air squat (thanks Kelly Starrett @thereadystate ). Back in the early days of @crossfi, Kelly said that we should be able to hang out down here. The Paleo Lazy Boy chair if you will. The squat is THE most functional thing we do. Toddlers can do it, then young children lose the ability. If you don’t squat through puberty then after all the growth your body really struggles with it. There’s probably an injury that happens and then you are “careful not to go below parallel”. Then you have to get the raised couch and toilet. And then you aren’t able to be independent. Yeah it’s THAT important even though we look right past it. Try this an see if you can do it. How much time can you accumulate in 10 mins? Stat of with whatever you got. Shake your legs out whenever you need to. Hold on to a bar or a door to keep balance. If you practice it, you will get better. Yes it takes time. As a CrossFit Coach I talk to people about flexibility all the time. And yes there are was to get flexible out there. But THIS, squatting, is something you NEED to have. Practice it! Can you do it? #crossfit #crossfitinferno #fitover50 #mastercoach #remotecoach

The CrossFit Open always has a way of holding up a mirror. Our results are a direct reflection of own efforts over time. A few years ago I was deep in it, like living for it alongside the best team and an outstanding coach ♠️ . I was training like an athlete full time, chasing every opportunity, every second, every rep, every leaderboard position. I was probably in the best shape of my life 2021-23. Then life evolved. 🦋 I became Sabre the Gladiator. More importantly I spent more time inspiring kids, touring, filming, trying to make a real difference. And the truth is — that takes energy. Time. Focus. So truth be told I’m not and haven’t been doing the same volume , the same level of skill work, intensity, or preparation that I once did. I know I’m not at the absolute peak of my competitive fitness especially with how the women of this sport have raised the game , it’s incredible to see. But I want to be. The reflection I see right now is not one I want to settle for … The inner acceptance to allow some balance is - I’m also more than I was back then. I can honestly say I offer far more value to this world now than I ever did then. Stronger in ways that don’t show up on a leaderboard. Giving back more than I ever have and grateful to do so. Living a life with a different purpose. Yet these last two weeks of the Open have reminded me of “CfSheli” she breathed for this sport and I think I miss elements of her , the focus, the inability to distract her… That fire is still very much there, just quietly flickering away. There’s one week left of the Open and maybe this is the reminder I needed to find a higher priority position for my training, my skills, the tougher side of this sport and the accessories required to thrive in volume. First step is to instil accountability to someone other than myself and so I’m back in the market for a CrossFit Coach …. #DontCallitAComeback #CrossfitAthlete 🎥 @mandjcollectives TY Joshu

Being a good athlete doesn’t make you a good coach 👀. * In my own experience - I struggle to coach the movements I struggled with the LEAST! The movements that took me forever to understand and accomplish I have 183848493 coaching cues for them. I can also empathize with the challenge, frustration, and mental anguish that comes with learning them. Obviously you get better the more you coach and I have learned lots of cues, struggles, and frustrations that come with each movement. * Reminder to athletes: don’t just seek out good athletes for tips and tricks. Find good coaches. Reminder to coaches: even though you might be a great athlete it doesn’t mean you’re a good coach. Study, learn, and apply so you can understand your athletes better! * Every once in a while you meet an athlete that is BOTH. They practice what they preach, are passionate about both, and want to give all the knowledge they have away. * Give me the worst coaching cues you’ve ever heard 😂
