It’s hard to believe that over 10 years ago, when Keegan regressed and lost his words, his eye contact everything, I became a mom on a mission. I needed to understand. The autism brain. You’re not overreacting. Your nervous system is processing rejection at a level most people will never understand. Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria is real. It’s exhausting. My favorite simple self-care TCM technique: the Shenmen point - often called the “Spirit Gate” 👉 Locate the Shenmen point in the upper inner part of your ear (the triangular area near the top) 👉 Hold steady pressure for 20–30 seconds while taking slow, deep breaths 👉 Release, then repeat 2–3 times on each ear. Emotions move through their body like a lightning strike instead of a wave. A lot of parents see the behavior but miss what’s underneath it. The nervous system is the control center for how the brain processes stress, emotion, stimulation, and regulation. When those signals fire too intensely or too quickly, the child isn’t choosing chaos. Their system is simply reacting faster than it can organize itself. That’s the piece we started paying attention to. The patches she’s wearing work through vibrotactile neuromodulation.
