XIThe Runes are a closed practice.
Not because a human gatekeeps them, but because the Gods themselves do.
You must be vetted, tested and accepted onto the runic path.
That is how I was taught by my runic mentor, and through my own experience I have seen that this power (which can heal just as easily as it can destroy) is NOT for everyone.
To give someone unready the knowledge of the runes, is like handing a toddler a loaded gun.
This is not poetic exaggeration, it is the truth and our ancestors understood this.
The runes are also not “just an alphabet.”
They are the cosmic code that underpins reality itself - the vibrational architecture through which fate, magic and being are woven.
Odin sacrificed himself upon Yggdrasil to win them, and through the runes we touch the raw fabric of creation.
This is why discernment is essential.
Be very cautious of people online teaching runes casually, posting rune formulas, bindrunes, “quick spells,” or treating them like aesthetic symbols.
Any true rune Vitki (male practitioner) or rune Vitka (female practitioner) worth their salt, knows never to overshare when it comes to this tradition.
There is a reason the lore speaks of secrecy, initiation, sacrifice and responsibility.
As Odin himself said:
“Knowest how one shall write, knowest how one shall rede?
Knowest how one shall tint, knowest how one makes trial?
Knowest how one shall ask, knowest how one shall offer?
Knowest how one shall send, knowest how one shall sacrifice?” (Hávamál)
Those lines are advice just as they are warnings.
The runes demand understanding, discipline, reverence, and a level of consciousness most people are simply not prepared for.
So if you feel called to the runes, approach them humbly, with respect, and be willing to undergo the tests that will come.

Chanting the full rune row—known in some traditions as a rune galdr—is a practice that aligns the voice, breath, and spirit with the full spectrum of runic forces. This particular way I'm chanting it was inspired by "In Maidjan" by Heilung. Each rune in the Elder Futhark carries a distinct archetypal energy, from primal creation (ᚠ Fehu) to ancestral unity (ᛟ Othala). By chanting them sequentially, we invoke these forces as a cohesive whole.
This kind of vocal practice can act as a self-initiation or a meditative journey through the symbolic map of existence embedded in the runes. It supports energetic balance, builds magical will, and strengthens the breath and throat—the seat of ond, or sacred breath, in Old Norse cosmology.
It can also awaken internal insights or bring forth spontaneous guidance from the collective unconscious or ancestral memory. Practiced regularly, chanting all the runes becomes both a grounding ritual and a subtle tuning of one's spirit to the rhythms of fate, nature, and mythic time.
This is not a performance. It is a practice of resonance, remembrance, and return.
