Today, one of my clients is running the London Marathon. Her previous PB (for her first ever marathon) was 4h 6mins. Today she is predicted to knock 13 minutes off that time. How have I worked that out? I haven't...RunDot and RaceX have done that. Using her training history and most recent 5K times, as well as the app knowing the course profile, this is what it predicts she is capable of. The same app predicted her time for a half marathon this year, which she was only 12 seconds slower than. So, I'm confident this is possible for her. So much more accurate than extrapolating what you've done during training and hoping for the best on the day. This is the power of leveraging artificial intelligence within endurance coaching. It has the ability to complete huge numbers of calculations and correlations with other individuals in her age and gender, and analyse the results of her training, to deliver that magical number. This would take a coach FOR-EVER and remove them from the more valuable work of engaging with the client and building that relationship. The kind of stuff that AI cannot do. The technology isn't here to replace us, but to support us. Check out my stories later to see how she gets on. “So… what do you actually do as a coach if TriDot (or RunDot) does the training program for you?” I love this question...  I get it all the time on athlete orientation calls. Very early on, I knew AI wasn’t here to replace coaches… it was here to enhance coaching. The truth is: AI will eventually replace coaches who don’t use it, not the ones who do.  When I started using TriDot back in 2019, I was coaching 24 athletes. Every Friday, I’d spend 6–7 hours programming workouts, about 30 minutes per athlete just to write two weeks of training. It was a grind. I loved the creative process, but it limited how much I could actually coach. Then AI changed everything.  Now, the platform lays out the optimized structure so I can focus on what really matters, coaching the athlete. Here’s what that looks like: ✅ Individualized strength training programs ✅ Movement screenings & run gait analysis (athletes send me videos for ongoing form feedback) ✅ Detailed race execution plans...  nutrition, hydration, pacing...  all tailored by distance and conditions ✅ Weekly / bi-weekly check-ins with more time for real conversation ✅ Quick training adjustments when life happens...   stress, travel, injury..  keeping everything aligned ✅ And so much more! It’s been a total game-changer. I’ve scaled from 24 to 30+ athletes while delivering more value than ever. Beyond my own roster, AI has opened doors to collaborate with other coaches, helping their athletes with run form or strength, and leaning on their expertise for things like bike fitting or nutrition.  In the same way, I can tap into other coaches’ expertise for areas I don’t currently have, things like dietary nutrition, bike fitting, and more.
