💫 let’s dive into this . 👏 the muscles of your jaw are some of the strongest in the body. And they are innervated by the trigeminal nerve— the 5th cranial nerve. . 🧠 the cranial nerves root directly into the brainstem— which means all of these nerves have high survival value (chewing food is pretty important for survival!!) . 🤯 when we activate the jaw, it is activating the brainstem! And strangely enough this can make our brain feel safer which will yield shifts in how you move . 🌀 not everyone needs the same activation— this is one of many experiments in finding what inputs your brain needs to feel safer . 👏 but once you know— you can strategically use this information to support you. . 🌀 there’s more, too— the jaw is one of the initiators of the fight response. So when we have a lot of anger and rage, many people (not always) might experience a lot of tension in their jaws. This is very generalized so just note there are ALWAYS nuance and exceptions to this . 🔥 I am personally feeling very heavy with the weight of the world, and sometimes I don’t know what to do with all my my anger. Yes I’m making calls, donating, and having some hard conversations:… but I still feel the pull of my anger moving toward myself. So biting something is one way I am consciously trying to move it outward. . 💫 I have a whole workbook on cranial nerve practices that can help signal safety and reduce your pain levels and open up mobility. In humans these make up our Ventral Vagal system for social engagement and inhibition of fight flight responses. The effects of this protocol are nothing short of remarkable - the body starts to course correct on all levels. - 3X Daily - Level 1 🙉 Hands behind head, face forward, bring eyes strongly left, hold until the point of ‘release’ 👉 Could be a yawn, a sigh, tears in the eyes or an urge to move. - Level 2 🫨 Lean the head left, move the eyes strongly right, until release. 👉 Sit a moment between each rep before moving to the other side - Level 3 🥱 Lean the head left, eyes right, but pull the head ever so slightly, until release. 👉 You might not feel much initially - stay with, it and over time the effects become super pronounced. Nobody talks about what happens when your body finally gives up being the one keeping everyone else afloat.. 👇🏼 Not emotionally tired.. physically.. That heavy pressure behind your eyes. The shallow breath in your chest.. The heavy fatigue that sleep doesn’t fix. The tension that never fully lets go.. You weren’t meant to carry it all, you just never felt safe to let it down.. Because no one ever asked how you were holding up.. 👇🏼 1. You isolate even though you crave connection.. You stop replying. You stop reaching out. Not because you don’t care, because your system is protecting you from feeling misunderstood, unsupported, or let down again.. 2. You resist support, even when it’s safe.. Someone offers to help and your body tenses. It’s not that you don’t want help, your system has learned that help = vulnerable. So you shut it down before it can let help in.. 3. You keep going but feel completely disconnected.. You’re drained after simple things. Conversations blur. Joy doesn’t register. It’s not a mindset issue, it’s your nervous system stuck in survival.. 4. You shut down when things are meant to feel good.. Rest feels edgy. Celebration feels numb. Your body isn’t broken, it’s bracing. And it doesn’t trust peace yet, because chaos has been your normal for so long.. This isn’t burnout. This is what happens when your body’s been bracing for too long.. Las puertas de la comunidad The Soma Room están abiertas por 5 días a un precio casi-regalado 🎉 Comenta SOMA si quieres tu acceso 🤎 • IDEAL PARA ENSEÑAR A NIÑXS: 🤎 La próxima vez que sientas de forma corpórea la rabia, no vas a pretender calmarte desde mensajes mentales como "no es para tanto" o "está todo bien", si no que vas a permitirle a tu cuerpo cerrar el círculo de la expresión para así 1) no reprimirla y 2) no estamparla contra alguien a quien amas y/o contra alguien que no lo merece. Con el puño debajo de la barbilla como estás viendo en el vídeo, • vas a inhalar por la nariz • vas a exhalar por la boca como si emitieras un grito silencioso (exhalación fuerte y direccionada) mientras con el puño generas resistencia (eso hace que la mandíbula deba ejercer más fuerza y así soltar mayor tensión) • volverás a inhalar, relajando mandíbula y puño • repetirás las veces que sean necesarias hasta que el ardor de la rabia haya disminuido. 🙏🏻 Alerta trigger emocional: cuando permitimos transitar la rabia de forma somática, puede que debajo de ella aparezca la tristeza. I used to get migraines every 2 weeks. Like clockwork, blinding pain, dark room, plans cancelled. I haven’t had a migraine in over six years. Not because I found a magic pill. But because I stopped treating my head like the problem. Most headaches are tension patterns. When your nervous system is stuck in stress mode, the fascia around your head, jaw, and neck tightens. That pressure builds and builds until your body forces you to stop. In this video, I’m showing one of the techniques that changed everything for me: First: One hand on the back of your head. One hand on your forehead. Gently squeeze and hold. Slow breathing in and out through your nose. Then: One hand on the left side of your head. One on the right. Gently rotate both hands upward. No digging or forcing, you’re not attacking the pain, you’re telling your nervous system it’s safe to release When the fascia around the skull releases, the whole system can downshift. For me, this wasn’t about managing migraines.
