Esotropia is divided into accommodative and non-accommodative. Accommodative esotropia is a convergent deviation of the eye associated with the activation of the accommodation reflex. Accommodative esotropia is divided into refractive and non-refractive. Refractive accommodative esotropia is divided into two parts, namely fully and partially. Fully accommodative esotropia is a specific type of intermittent strabismus where one or both eyes can turn inwards (converge). Refractive accommodative esotropia results from uncorrected hyperopia with insufficient fusional divergence. To confirm the diagnosis, a cycloplegic refraction must be performed and the patient placed in full hyperopic correction. Accommodative esotropia can be confirmed by the restoration of orthophoria (straight eyes) with the full hyperopic correction spectacles. Non-refractive accommodative esotropia is characterized by a high accommodative convergence: accommodation (AC/A) ratio. Refractive errors can range from high myopia to high hyperopia. The esotropia is larger at near fixation than at distance fixation. The goal of treatment is to restore normal eye alignment to allow for the development of binocular vision and to prevent amblyopia (lazy eye).

🔒 Never forget how to spot an ARGYLL ROBERTSON PUPIL for your medical exams 🔥 Follow me Dr Matt Barrett @dr_mattbarrett to study medicine smarter! ⚠️ Spoiler alert: Argyll Robertson Pupil Know this one for your medical exams… ❌The pupils DO NOT respond to light (when shone with the light) ✅ but they DO accommodate (when fixating on the finger) This is known as an Argyll Robertson Pupil and is typically found in: ☑️ tertiary syphilis (💡typical exam answer!) ☑️ MS ☑️ diabetic neuropathy and more It’s thought to result from a lesion near the third ventricle of the brain! (but it’s unclear) 🔒 Remember: ARP Read forwards: ‘Accommodation Reflex Present’ Read backwards: ‘Pupillary Reflex Absent’ —— #doctor #nurse #nursesofinstagram #doctorsofinstagram #mbbs #medico #ukmla #usmle #osce #medicalquiz #diagnosis #medstudent #medicalschool #physicianassociate #osce #paces

how the pupil (black center of the eye) responds to light and near focus. 🌸 There are two main types: 1. Light Reaction ✨ • When a bright light is shone into one eye, the pupil constricts (gets smaller). • This happens in both eyes (direct and consensual response). • Normal: quick, equal, and symmetrical reaction. 2. Near Reaction (Accommodation reflex) 👓 • When focusing on a near object, the pupils constrict, the eyes converge, and the lens accommodates (becomes more convex to focus). • This is called the near triad: • Constriction of pupils • Convergence of eyes • Accommodation of lens 👉 A healthy pupil should be equal, round, reactive to light and accommodation (PERRLA). . . . #pupil #EyeCheckup #drswatiuniyal #marutieyecare #eyecare #pupilentes #eyerelated #healthyeyes #visiontherapy #eyecare #maruticompleteeyecare #algorithms #trendingreels #trendingnow #eyecheckup #eyehealth #pupils

Only 50% of People Can Do This With Their Eyes #skill The ability to voluntarily unfocus one's eyes by changing the shape of the lens is a unique skill that not everyone possesses. This remarkable feat involves the alteration of the eye's lens to deliberately blur the vision. Here's why only some people can accomplish this: Lens Flexibility: The human eye's lens is naturally flexible, allowing it to change shape to focus on objects at different distances. People who can voluntarily unfocus their eyes have a higher degree of control over this flexibility. Accommodation Reflex: The eye's natural response to focus on objects involves a reflex known as accommodation, where the lens changes shape to bring objects into clear focus. Voluntarily unfocusing the eyes requires overriding this reflex, which is a learned skill. Muscle Control: The ciliary muscles surrounding the lens play a crucial role in changing its shape. Individuals with exceptional muscular control can intentionally relax these muscles, causing the lens to assume a more relaxed, less focused state. Training and Practice: Like many unique skills, the ability to change the shape of the lens voluntarily can be developed through training and practice. Certain visual exercises and relaxation techniques can enhance this skill. Visual Awareness: People who are highly attuned to their visual perception and are capable of separating their awareness from the act of focusing may find it easier to unfocus their eyes. Individual Variability: As with any skill, there is natural variability among individuals. Some may have a predisposition for better control over their eye muscles and lens shape, while others may find it more challenging. In summary, voluntarily unfocusing one's eyes through changing the shape of the lens is a skill that depends on factors such as lens flexibility, muscle control, training, and individual variability. Those who can master this skill often do so through a combination of these factors, allowing them to intentionally create a blurred visual effect for artistic, meditative, or other purposes. #EyeControl #LensFlexibility #VisualSkills #VisionControl #EyeCoordination #AccommodationReflex

👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇🫢🫢🫢🫢🫢🫢 The ciliary muscle is a smooth muscle located inside the eye as part of the ciliary body, which lies behind the iris. It plays a key role in focusing vision by controlling the shape of the eye’s lens. Structure of the Ciliary Muscle 👁️ The ciliary muscle forms a circular ring around the lens and is connected to it by thin fibers called zonular fibers (suspensory ligaments). It has three types of muscle fibers: Circular fibers Radial fibers Longitudinal fibers These fibers work together to change lens shape during focusing. Main Functions of the Ciliary Muscle 1. Accommodation (Focusing) 🔍 The most important function is accommodation, which allows the eye to focus on objects at different distances. When looking at near objects: Ciliary muscle contracts Zonular fibers relax Lens becomes thicker and more convex This increases refractive power to focus near images on the retina When looking at distant objects: Ciliary muscle relaxes Zonular fibers become tight Lens becomes flatter This reduces refractive power for distance vision This process is part of the Accommodation reflex. 2. Control of Lens Shape 🧿 By altering tension on the zonular fibers, the ciliary muscle continuously adjusts the curvature of the lens to maintain clear vision at all distances. 3. Aqueous Humor Outflow 💧 The ciliary muscle also helps regulate the drainage of aqueous humor by affecting the trabecular meshwork. When the muscle contracts: It opens the drainage angle This improves fluid outflow and helps maintain normal intraocular pressure Simple Summary 📚 Action of Ciliary Muscle Effect on Lens Vision Type Contracts Lens thickens Near vision Relaxes Lens flattens Distance vision

Upgrades don’t just happen. Hotel staff are trained to look for quiet signals before deciding who gets one. Here are a few: 💡 Politeness at check-in — guests who are respectful (not demanding) stand out immediately 💡 Celebration clue — mention birthdays, anniversaries, or honeymoons in passing (staff love making it special) 💡 Flexibility — arriving slightly later or being open to a different room category makes upgrades more likely 💡 Loyalty in tone — even if it’s your first stay, saying “I love your hotels” signals you’re worth investing in 📌 Save this before your next hotel stay 🧳 DM me “UPGRADE” and I’ll show you how me and my team book smarter, unlock hidden perks, and travel better without paying extra 👀 Follow for grown-up travel hacks that actually work #SmartTraveller #HotelHacks #TravelTips #CuratedTravel #DoneForYouTrips #TravelLicenceLife #TravelGlowUp #TimePoorTraveller #LuxuryWithoutTheDrama #travelsmarternotharder

What should I do? #Hotel #fail #ResidenceInn This room cost us $7,000 a month and didn't realize how nasty the #bed was until several weeks in and there wasn't another hotel close by that was large enough for my family. So we just changed rooms. Most of the staff was really nice so I didn't want to get them in trouble but the manager wouldn't help at all and even the main chain hotline wasn't helpful. Residence Inn must do better and now I strip hotel beds as soon as I arrive. #PTSD is real. #travel #troubles #vacay #goneWrong @residenceinn
