Blessed to have the opportunity and access to genetic testing ten years ago.
Blessed to have the opportunity and access to an amazing medical team who performed risk reducing surgeries 5 years ago.
Blessed to have the opportunity to know about my genetic mutation, my risk and what I could do about it.
BRCA was a blessing in disguise that allowed me to make proactive decisions for my body and life that my mom and patients wished they could have had.
My genetic mutation made me a patient that was hungry to learn everything I could about lifestyle and mindset as medicine. About everything that was in my control and not accept the idea that my genes = my destiny.
Ten years later, it led me here today….

Raising two kids with the knowledge that, yes we can’t control our genes, but we can control so many of our everyday habits that have a massive impact on our gene expression and risk of not just cancer but ever other major lifestyle related chronic illness.

DRMy friends are getting married.
They’re having babies.
They’re planning weddings, nurseries, and futures.
And I’m having cancer.
Next week, I have an appointment to talk about removing my ovaries.
And gradually, the reality hits a little harder: I may never have the future I once imagined.
It’s a strange kind of whiplash — watching life move forward in such beautiful, ordinary ways, while mine is measured in appointments, scans, and treatment plans.
I am genuinely happy for them.
And at the same time, I’m grieving the version of this chapter I thought I would be living.
Cancer doesn’t just interrupt your body.
It interrupts your timeline, and your future.
Some days, that’s the hardest part — not just the treatment, but the quiet reckoning with how different life can become, so quickly.
But this is still my life.
Still unfolding. Just differently.
And even in the uncertainty, I’m still here.
Still moving forward.
Still holding space for hope — even if the shape of the future looks different now 🤍
