➕ADD this Core exercise to the end of your next workout if you LOVE FUNctional Core exercises🤭 It even spikes the heart rate a little bit 😮‍💨 How to: 🖤Get into a half kneeling lunge/split squat position. 🖤Hold a dumbbell, weight plate, or kettlebell by the horns. 🖤 Brace your core & actively tuck your rib cage towards your hips (close the space in your midsection), and squeeze your glutes. Now perform a diagonal chopping movement with the weight. 🖤Keep your shoulder blades drawn together and down. 🖤 Make sure your back doe is digging into the ground for the duration of the exercise. This will dramatically improve your overall stability and ability to perform this exercise. For starters it’s great to do safe exercises to help heal your core, gain strength and lose the baby weight 🙌🏻 These are safe for c-section moms once you’ve healed after surgery, every mother heals at different rates, so please do take your time and consult with your Dr before doing any sort of activities such as going back to the gym 💪🏻. However these exercises can be done at home✨ can be done anytime when your little one isn’t fussy or asleep. I'll be honest, this started out as simply a core exercise in the quiet part of the gym and using the barbell I had been using for a different complex. But it evolved from the roll out, into the snatch and into the shoulder press because I was curious. So I then tried it as a bit of a pyramid and got a nicely toasted core and shoulder combo (BOGOF). What does this tell us? Black and white is safe and fine, but often the fun comes from experimenting and playing in the various shades of grey. Im talking about fitness, but I like where you went just then, lets be friends lol If you make fitness enjoyable, you take away the fear of participating or failing and it just might be the gateway to you reaching and keeping your goals. .HOW TO SELF CORRECT YOUR PUSH UPS Expanding from my post from yesterday, if you identified with any of those butchered push up positions- this video will help. (Take a look at the video from yesterday). My first plea to you is elevate your push up. Let’s start from an angle that you can work your form and feel like doing 5 reps is possible (not impossible). 🗣️Take a listen to my cues and give them a try: 1.) WIDER hands. 2.) PUSH your shoulders down away from your ears the entire time. 3.) Look OUT and open your chest and shoulders more. 4.) Focus on feeling your lats and your core rather than your chest parentheses (I know that seems counterintuitive.) 5.) Squeeze your whole body the entire time. It should almost feel like a core exercise! Let me know if these cues help. And remember, there’s no shame in the elevation game! If you have been doing push-ups with shitty form up until now, back up your form and elevate yourself to re-pattern your push ups in the right way. .
