Looking for the ULTIMATE munros to climb in the Scottish Highlands this summer? Here’s 5 of my favourites!👇 1. Bruach na Frìthe; the Isle of Skye: one of the “easiest” munros on Skye, this Munro summit is located on the eastern end of the Cuillin Ridge. You begin the climb from Sligachan and can expect it to take 5-7hours (allow plenty of time to take in the views of Britain’s most dramatic ridge, though!) 2. Blà Bheinn; the Isle of Skye: Also known as “Blaven”, this is Skye’s only standalone Munro. The ascent is steep and involves some moderate scrambling and an ascent through a scree gully, but there’s no extensive exposure. From the summit, you’ll be rewarded with some of the best views in the country. This is a favourite of mine! 3. An Teallach; Dundonnell: this is known as Scotland’s “most beautiful mountain” for a reason. Begin by ascending the mountain’s two munros, which are then followed by an absolutely sensational ridge traverse (grade 2/3 scramble). A favourite among many munro baggers and mountaineers. 4. Liathach; Torridon: one of the 3 Torridon Giants, this climb involves 2 Munro summits separated by a fantastic grade 2 ridge traverse. Some brilliant exposure on this one, with the Am Fas pinnacles always leaving you wanting more. 5. Sgùrr na Banachdaich; the Isle of Skye: another of Skye’s “most accessible” munros, this one leads you to the centre of the Cuillin Ridge. It begins at Glen Brittle youth hostel, near the Fairy Pools. Begin by ascending along some beautiful waterfalls before emerging at a steep shoulder ascent. The hike is fairly straightforward and requires no scrambling, although the final section onto the Ridge gets quite rocky and has no shortage of drama. The best mountain I’ve ever climbed? Tag the person that has to come hike Suilven with you this summer ⛰️🔥🥾 It’s got to be, after being in my list for over 5 years, it feels pretty insane to have finally summited the infamous Suilven in the North West Highlands of Scotland. There’s something so magical about this particular area, with the mountains rising steep above the wild and untamed moorland. This part of the highlands just feels so characteristically different to the other areas, it just feels even more remote and wild, which of course is what we LOVE! If you’re thinking of doing this hike, please note that it’s not a short one. It’s a long old day out, and requires decent navigational skills and knowledge as well as plenty of endurance for a good ol day out on your feet. Also remember that conditions can change rapidly, especially in the highlands, so be sure to bring the essential equipment including headtorch, waterproofs, sturdy footwear, warm layers and of course your snacks and water. Last thing: whilst this hike is utterly breathtaking and I’m so thankful for experiencing it, this was probably the reason why I am currently having physical trouble with my back and sciatica (because I didn’t listen to my body) so, remember this mountain will always be there another day, LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!! - I’ll be touching in this even more in tomorrow reel. Hiking the Cuillin Ridge in Winter Me @scottishmaninavan @willem.explores @robert_mcskimming began with a gradual hike up through the valley alongside a river. 3.5k into the hike we hit the savagely steep scree gully. After plenty of sliding and cursing, we scrambled up and through window, where the views down over Loch Coruisk were sensational. From there it was a short scramble up to the first munro, Sgùrr a Mhadaidh. The peak of the Dog, granted us unbelievable panoramic views back over Skye and towards the mainland. After a wee dram we hiked back down to An Doras before beginning the 400m scramble up to the second munro. The second munro of the day was Sgùrr a Ghreadaidh. Known as the peak of torment, the mountain summit is located on a narrow ridge and marks the highest point of the black culliin mountains From the summit you are afforded 360 degree panoramic views across the west coast of Scotland. I soaked in the views with a sarnie, before we decided to push onto the third munro. Unfortunately for Davids legs, this section of Cuillins is the narrowest ridge in the uk, and is a sustained grade 3 scramble which is incredibly exposed. After a thrilling descent down to a saddle, we then had to hike up and over a steep slab of rock, before making the final short scramble up to to the third munro. We made it up to Sgùrr na Banachdaich just in time for sunset and the views were mind blowing. Alongside seeing the entirety of the Isle of Skye and the Cuillin ridge, we had endless views out over the small isles, and up and down the West Coast of Scotland. We soaked in the majestical mountain views as the snow capped peaks of the Cuillins glowed under the last of the setting sun. It was an incredible end to the best day in the mountains I’ve ever had. To top it off after nearly 9 hours of hiking, big Davy cooked us a epic chilli. As epic as the Cuillin Ridge is, It’s a route which I would only recommend hiking if you have the skillset, knowledge and weather window to do so. The hike is extremely technical and exposed, so shouldn’t be taken lightly. If in doubt, give it a miss or hire a guide. #hiking #scottishhighlands #ukhikers

The Cuillin Ridge | The UK’s Greatest Alpine Ridge 🌄 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Despite this being my third time on the ridge, a lot of it felt like the first time again… I guess 12km of scrambling, climbing and exposed ridgeline is a lot of rock to remember 😵‍💫 This trip, though, wasn’t just about the adventure. I was supporting two friends — @stoogreen and @andpatrick — as they took on the ridge on behalf of @urbanuprising_climbing - a brilliant charity Stu founded. Andrew is a trustee, and I’m proud to be an ambassador 🥹 Sharing the Cuillin Ridge with friends, in that wild and dramatic setting 🌄 reminded me how deeply lucky I am. Climbing has given me so much — purpose, confidence, identity, and a community I love 🥰 It’s shaped my life. But it’s easy to forget that the path into this world isn’t open to everyone. I was born into a family who supported my ambitions from an early age, encouraged my career, and gave me the foundation to build the life of my dreams ✨ But for many young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, that support isn’t there. There’s no access to climbing walls or outdoor spaces. No mentors. No one telling them they’re capable, or that the outdoors is for them too. That’s where Urban Uprising comes in 🦊 They run programmes that introduce young people to climbing — not just as a sport, but as a way to build self-confidence, resilience, and social connection.
