BARBELL BICEP CURLS ➡️ DUMBBELL BICEP CURLS 1000’s of Women have told me they get pain with barbell bicep curls or feel like they are doing it “wrong” or there is something wrong with them. Some Women naturally have a greater carrying angle at the elbow which doesn’t allow it to follow its natural path on a fixed barbell. Here’s how this swap can help ⤵️ ✅ More joint freedom/ less strain - wrists and elbows aren’t fixed into a position and can rotate more naturally ✅ Greater ROM - allows forearm to pronate/ supinate through the movement (biceps are a supinator) ✅ Balanced distribution of load/ tension - each arm works independently against resistance ✅ Varied grip - the dumbbell can be rotated for pronated, neutral and supinated grip for variety If you’re struggling with barbell bicep curls, don’t try to make your body fit the exercise. Just vary the exercise slightly to fit your unique anatomy. Give it a try and let me know how it goes 👇🏼 #biomechanics #exercisescience #womensfitnesscoach #carryingangle #biceps

Spine/Posterior Chain Mobility Drill I Use a Lot w/ All Athletes. If the spine isn’t working/moving well - good luck staying healthy and performing at a high level. I think I paid like $2,500 last June to take a course & travel to Atlanta for 5 days to learn from @altis . Took this drill directly from them and what they did with their track athletes before speed sessions. It’s been a good investment for the athletes I train and coach. _________________________________________ #strengthandconditioning #exercisescience #personaltrainer #chiropractic

Here are a few fitness myths that we should leave behind in 2025: 1. Maximum stretch for gains: the idea that getting a deeper stretch is the key for muscle growth is not entirely true. In reality the idea originally came from a more biomechanical reasoning that has more to do with the force generating capacity of the muscle rather than soley being about the stretch. 2. Neuromechanical matching: while I do believe that the nervous system takes muscle leverage into account to recruit muscles for a task (only implicitly), perhaps as part of an internal model that is learned over time. I don’t believe leverage is the only factor that is considered and the way social media used an incorrect interpretation of principle into training for muscle growth is definitely an extrapolation of the principle. 3. Within week atrophy: the idea that we have to train 3 times a week to prevent atrophy because fibers are always building up or breaking down is a simplistic model and just goes against what the body of literature is saying. There’s good research showing that training 2 times a week can be just as good. #gym #musclegrowth #exercisescience #hypertrophy #onlinefitnesscoach

Fix your form‼️ Save this✅ Lateral raises, triceps extensions and bicep curls are 3 extremely common exercises (and for good reason!) But they are often done in suboptimal ways. For lateral raises, you have to protect your shoulders and put them in the strongest position. Meaning, stop raising the weights straight out to the side and go at a slight angle forward. This reduces the risk of shoulder impingement and allows you to use heavier weights due to increased control and stability. For tricep extensions, you want to keep as much tension on the muscle for as long as you can. To do this, step back from the cable and angle your body forward. This allows for more stimulation at the top of the exercise because your forearms are more perpendicular to the cable, rather than parallel. For bicep curls, same thing.. it’s all about tension and also about maximizing the stretch of the muscle. When your elbows are down by your side, you are not stretching the muscle at the bottom and are essentially resting at the end of every rep. But by sliding your elbows forward, you are keeping constant tension and also utilizing the stretch portion of the exercise. #exercisescience #formtips #exercisetips #exercises #workoutvideos #workoutoftheday #tipoftheday #workouttips #weighttraining #weightlifting

Forward head posture causes poor breathing. Amazing post by @mtperformancedk & @quantumbiomechanics, thank you! As a byproduct of spinal compression, a head that is locked in front of the cervical spine’s natural alignment not only puts pressure on the spinal discs but also on the airways that supply your lungs with air. A common consequence of this “air hunger” is the tendency to rely on mouth breathing to force in more air. This is why people with this posture are often more likely to be habitual mouth breathers—causing even more issues than the postural dysfunction itself. The two main muscles involved in this mechanism are the suboccipitals and the sternocleidomastoid. If the fascia surrounding them is left untreated and dehydrated, these muscles can remain locked in contraction, contributing to the forward tilt of the head. And guess what? The fascial sheet that runs through this pathway connects to your forehead. So, what many people consider chronic headaches or migraines may, in fact, be linked to neglected fascia pulling on your head and causing tension. To ensure correct spinal alignment—including that of your cervical spine—make sure all the following parts of your body fall in a straight vertical line when assessing your (resting) posture from a lateral view: ↓ Ear ↓ Mid-shoulder ↓ Mid-ribcage ↓ Mid-pelvis ↓ Mid-knee ↓ Malleolus #anatomy #muscles #education #learning #medicalstudent #chiropractor #physio #medicalschool #physicaltherapy #physicaltherapist #massage #massagetherapy #exercisescience #backmuscles #backpainexercises #yogateacher #physiotherapy #osteopathy #medstudent #fisioterapia #osteopatía #physiotherapy #osteopathie #posture #medicine #musclepain #jointpain #shoulderpain #backpain #headache #headaches
