Barely had my eyes open before I had to say it—the 79th annual Met Gala might’ve actually eaten.
The theme was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style and the dress code was Tailored for You, and some folks took that personally—in the best way. Janelle and Lupita blended masculine and feminine energy like they were born to do it. Lauryn Hill gave dandy drama that demanded a standing ovation. And Teyana Taylor? Worked with costume designer Ruth Carter to deliver something that felt like pure storytelling on fabric. That’s what the Met should be. Meanwhile, some others just threw on a black dress and hoped for the best. I’m naming names, y’all already know.
