With age comes a lot of changes. There are things I do today that I wouldn’t have guessed I would do even a couple of years ago, & I dropped a few things that just don’t serve my well being anymore. 1. I don’t kill myself at the gym anymore. I used to love to push myself, but my body doesn’t want it anymore, & I don’t need to. Some strength training & walking at a decent pace is more than enough nowadays. If I push myself too hard,, my body will feel exhausted instead of energized & I’ll even gain a few pounds in the process. 2. I don’t beat myself up over mess ups & mistakes. I still dwell a bit, but I don’t beat myself up. I used to come down so hard on myself, I would feel like shit just from my own words. Now, I take some deep breaths & remind myself that it’s ok until I feel better & have moved on. 3. I don’t eat as much processed carbs & sugars. This has taken time, but I just took it day by day, & over time my eating tastes have changed so I don’t even crave a lot of what I used to crave. It’s funny to me how I can walk by a blueberry muffin now & not even be tempted because that was not the case a couple of years ago. Food affects me way more than it used to, weight gain, bloating, sleep disruption, so I cut out as many processed foods as I could. Aging has come w/ a lot of changes, but overall, I think a lot of them have made me better, happier, & stronger. 💫 Like, follow, & save for yourself as a reminder to make some changes so that you feel & look your best. Here’s my top 5 anti aging tips that also happen to be the top 5 metabolic health tips for anyone wanting to age well… This might be unexpected but it’s approved by my husband + orthopedic surgeon. 1️⃣ I protect my sleep like it’s a skincare product. And honestly? This one is so hard for me. But during deep sleep your body releases growth hormone — the same hormone that stimulates collagen production. Skip the sleep, skip the repair. No serum can replace that. More on my sleep journey another day. 2️⃣ I eat protein like my face depends on it. Because it does. Collagen is a protein.
