THHow to reuse Tomato Leaves to make a natural fertiliser for your plants 🍅🤗💚
Before buying a fertiliser and wasting/misusing plastic, it’s always good to first ask ourselves, what are the available resource around us that we could reuse, to grow our food.
If you grow tomatoes, when pruning your plants (suckers & lower leaves), collect these leaves as you can turn them into a natural fertiliser.
💚 Cut the leaves and put 100 grams / 3,5 oz of tomato leaves into a 1L / 0,25 Gallon glass bottle.
💚 Add rainwater, put the lid on the bottle and shake every day.
💚 Bubbles as sign of fermentation will appear
💚 In less than 6 days, when there are no bubbles anymore, the mixture is ready!
💚 Filter the mixture and mix it with 3L / 0,8 Gallon of water
You have here a natural fertiliser that nourrish the soil of your plants, bringing Nitrogen & Potassium. I recommend using it on your Tomato & Zucchini plants.
The mixture can also be turnt into foliar spraying for other plants, this will act as repellent for pests.
There are many natural resources we can reuse before buying new products to grow our food. Happy to share this recipe in partnership with @wastefreeplanet for the #julyplasticfree 🙌🏼
