ENPresent Simple Tense: Quick Guide
The Present Simple is used to describe habits, unchanging situations, general truths, and fixed arrangements.
The Basic Structure
Positive:
For I / You / We / They: Use the base form of the verb.
Example: They play football.
For He / She / It: Add -s or -es to the verb.
Example: She plays football.
Negative:
Use do not (don't) or does not (doesn't) + base verb.
Example: I don't like coffee / He doesn't like coffee.
Question:
Use Do or Does at the beginning.
Example: Do you work here? / Does he work here?
When to Use It?
Habits/Routine: Things you do regularly. (I drink tea every morning.)
Facts: Things that are always true. (The sun rises in the east.)
States: Feelings or thoughts. (I love English.)
