NEThis is my Honda K series-based V8 engine, the K48. The goal is 750-800 horsepower NA and a redline of 10,000 RPMs.
Updates to the Engine:
I moved the dry sump pump closer to the engine block to create more space. Moving the dry sump was a big task. Its placement was limited by off-the-shelf belt lengths that must be at the correct tension while maintaining the proper pulley ratio (more in future posts)
This render shows the custom valve covers (designed for dry sump) with R35 ignition coils (more powerful/reliable than stock K series). The Japanese text says, 二口女シリーズ or “Futakuchi-onna Series”. Futakuchi-onna (二口女) is a Japanese monster (yokai), a woman with two mouths, one of which is at the back of her head. It seems incredibly fitting since my engine has two identical cylinder heads facing opposite directions. I used Google translate, so let me know if it needs correction.
Having the exhaust in the middle of the engine is nothing new. The exhaust is covered in a heat shield material that is infinitely better than mass-production heat shielding (BMW, Audi). The heat shielding will prevent cooked valve cover gaskets that plague some hot V engines. The heat shielding didn’t render perfectly, but you get the idea.
