For some reason people seem very willing to taking a boatload of supplements, but the reality is the vast majority of them are not indicated, offer no real health benefit, have the potential for harm, and are a waste of money. Some of the supplements I would not recommend: 💊 Fish oil- no compelling data to suggest that fish oil can reduce your risk of cardiovascular events. The only study that had partially favorable benefits of fish oil (REDUCE-IT) looked at prescription strength doses and even then, the study itself had a flawed design and doesn’t provide solid evidence that fish oil reduces the risk of heart attacks. 💊 Turmeric supplements- no need to take pill form of turmeric. If you’re cooking with it then great, but no need for mega concentrated doses in a supplement. There is a risk of liver toxicity as well. 💊 Calcium- please don’t take calcium supplements for heart health, if anything there is a risk of accelerating certain heart conditions such as heart attacks. Unless you have osteoporosis, often calcium in the diet is more than sufficient. Vitamin D is a better choice. 💊 CoQ 10 - often taken to “boost heart health”, this is another supplement that has no compelling evidence that it reduces the risk of heart attacks or strokes. Some take it for muscle aches related to statins but the evidence for this is also weak. #supplement #fishoil #coq10 #calcium #turmeric #vitamins #fromthe❤️md #functionalmedicine

Should you be taking Vitamin C supplements? 💊 Vitamin C is often touted as a “staple supplement” that boosts immune system and helps improve human health…. But Vitamin C has a dirty little secret… The majority of ascorbic acid (source of Vitamin C) comes from GMO corn, likely sprayed with roundup, glyphosate, weed killer… Additionally, what so many people don’t understand is that synthetic Vitamin C has shown no positive effect when going head to head against natural sources of Vitamin C… In a head to head study of camu-camu berries versus ascorbic acid, in smokers, only the natural Vitamin C from camu-camu berries showed to reduce oxidative stress (PMID: 34073317)… Just something to think about next time you’re buying Vitamin C supplements… Can you not just get it from natural food sources? I’m a big believer of getting all your vitamins and minerals from bioavailable, natural, whole food sources within your diet if you truly want to be healthy… Welcome to #theremembering 🏹

When You Take Your Vitamins MATTERS Most people take vitamins without thinking about timing, but absorption is everything! Here’s when to take the 5 most common vitamins for MAX benefits 👇 • Vitamin D3 – Take with your first meal (breakfast or lunch) & healthy fats like eggs or avocado for best absorption. • Omega-3 (Fish Oil) – Pair with a meal containing fats to enhance digestion & prevent those fishy burps. • Zinc – Best mid-morning or mid-afternoon on an empty stomach. If it upsets your stomach, take it with food—but avoid grains, nuts & legumes (they block absorption). • Magnesium – Take in the evening, with dinner or before bed, for relaxation & muscle recovery. Split into two doses for better absorption. • Iron – Mid-morning on an empty stomach, paired with Vitamin C (like orange juice) for max absorption. Avoid coffee or tea as caffeine blocks iron uptake. Drop a 💊 if this helped! ⬇️ #supplement #vitamins #food #healthyliving #longevity #health

Ascorbic Acid and Vitamin C are NOT one in the same Ascorbic acid (AA) added to vitamins, drinks and food does not make up a complete wholefood source of vitamin C and is, in fact, devoid of all vitamin C co-factors. AA is described as the anti-oxidant wrapper but co-occurs with other parts of Vitamin C.  AA on its own is void of vitamin C cofactors and will DEPLETE the adrenal glands of Vitamin C. 90% of all Vitamin C is stored in the adrenal for one main reason – it is used to produce the stress hormone cortisol. Vitamin C also plays a HUGE role in the production of copper rich anti-oxidants (SOD, Catylase, CAD, Cytochrome Oxidase, Glutathione Peroxidase) that benefit the oxygen carry capacity of RBCs, copper metabolism, energy production and iron recycling.  Ascorbic Acid is derived from GMO corn and is synthesized from a process using volatile acids. Which makes AA a pro-oxidant, not an anti-oxidant, increasing overall oxidative stress. “High doses of AA has been linked to the formation of kidney stones, and formation of genotoxins (chemicals that damage the genetic formation inside cells and cause mutations).” Thomas et al. 2013 and Lee et al. 2001. NOTES:  ❌Ascrobate is just another form of AA. ❌Liposomal C is derived from AA.  ❌Sodium Ascorbate is AA buffered in sodium and derived from AA. Whole food vitamin C contains: 14 flavonoids, rubin, tyrosinase, factors P, K and J, copper ions, iron, manganese, zinc, phosphorus, magnesium, selenium and ascorbic acid. Great sources of WHOLE FOOD C: strawberries, citrus fruits, cherries, papaya, kiwi 👉🏻Other ways to supplement wholefood vitamin C- rose hips, camu camu, acerola #ascorbicacid #ascorbicacidisnotvitaminc #vitamincsupplement #vitamincsupport #vitamincfoods #gmocorn #gmocornsyrup

Is citric acid really that bad? Let's look at how it's made. 99% of citric acid is produced by Fermenting corn with black mold. The fermented substance is then taken from the culture, mixed with calcium hydroxide to form calcium citrate… Which is filtered out and treated with sulfuric acid to create citric acid. Then it is purified and dried into a powder right. So the answer is yes, it’s pretty bad. Citric acid is essentially mold treated corn that has been repeatedly processed. Healing Cavities and receding gums! Dental cavities (tooth decay), are caused by deficiency of minerals, imbalance of bacteria in the mouth, and consumption of refined sugars, not lack of brushing. (Never use a toothpaste with fl0uride, ever!) Of course, still brush your teeth! But if you want to avoid cavities, place more effort into healthy intestinal flora, avoid refined sugars, eat a more alkaline diet and keep your mineral levels balanced. Cod liver oil contains nutrients that reduce cavities by 40% and fulvic minerals plus (in my bio) is packed full of nutrients and the minerals our body so desperately needs. Vitamin D is necessary for bone health, so I added in 5,000 iu of vitamin D, 1000 iu for kiddos. Receding gums are a sign your body is too acidic. Focus on eating a more alkaline diet! Gums can be reconnected to the teeth by taking a Vitamin C and Baking Soda mixture! This is how I healed my receding gums! We’ve come a long way! Mix one-half teaspoon of ascorbic acid Vitamin C with one-half teaspoon of Arm and Hammer baking soda (aluminum free) in a cup with one inch of water. Let it fizz and then fill the rest of the cup with water and drink that each day in the am and right before bed! The resulting sodium ascorbate is non-acid, very pure and a thousand times more soluble than vitamin C. Sodium ascorbate is more active than ascorbic acid (C) in building connective tissue and antibody structures and more effective in killing some bacteria and viruses! Do this everyday until you notice your gums have grown back! FYI: According to the research of Dr. Bernard Jensen and Westin A Price, the number one cause of crooked teeth is consumption of refined sugar, which causes mineral imbalance. #moms #mom #recedinggums #teeth #toddler #toddlermomlife #toddlermom #parent #parenting #parents #crookedteeth #cavitiesinchildren #children #holistichealth #holistic #healthylifestyles #healing #sahm #mommy #mommylife

Basic skincare It doesn’t need to be complicated . . AM 1. Gentle cleanser OR just wash with cool water if really sensitive (rosacea) 2. Antioxidant (Vitamin C in some form you can tolerate either ascorbic acid, sodium ascorbyl phosphate, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, sodium ascorbate, calcium ascorbate, ascorbyl palmate) 3. Sunscreen in your moisturizer ( put it down your neck, on the décolleté, as well as your ears (makeup goes last) PM 4. Gentle cleanser to get dirt and makeup off well. Yes, you can double cleanse if you like with a gentle noncomedogenic oil cleanser or micellar water but the key is GENTLE! 5. Moisturizer. Yes, once you build up this moisturizer can have other actives like hyaluronic acid and peptides, but just a basic noncomedogenic one is great! 6. Retinoid (tretinoin, retinol, adapalene, tazarotene, trifaroyene, or bakuchiol for those REALLY sensitive . Stop guessing when to take your vitamins! 💊⏰ Timing is everything when it comes to maximizing absorption and getting the most out of your supplements. If you take them at the wrong time, your body might not even process them properly. Here is your Essential Guide to Supplement Timing: • Magnesium: 1 hour before bed to help with relaxation and better sleep. 😴 • Vitamin D & E: Best taken with meals (like breakfast) because they need fats to absorb. 🍳 • Probiotics & B-Complex: Take these on an empty stomach for maximum energy and gut health. ⚡ • Iron: Best on an empty stomach, but keep it at least 2 hours away from Zinc or Calcium so they don’t block each other! 🚫 Pro Tip: Everyone’s body is different. Always check with a professional before starting a new routine! Ascorbic acid is literally vitamin C and is not just a component of vitamin C. It’s the whole package. Also, the vitamins we consume have chemical names in addition to their common names. For example, vitamin B12 is also called cobalamin and vitamin D is called calciferol. She also says that vitamin C is sourced from corn syrup, and while that’s one possibility, vitamin C supplements are also produced other ways. Not that it matters. In the end the vitamin C that is produced or extracted is chemically identical to the vitamin C that you’d find in an orange. However, you wouldn’t be getting the fibre and other nutrients found in an orange, and people who are eating plenty of fruits and vegetables are unlikely to benefit much from supplementing, but let’s not fearmonger about vitamin C supplements of all things… References: https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/VitaminC-HealthProfessional/ https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/VitaminB12-HealthProfessional/ https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/VitaminD-HealthProfessional/ https://www.mdpi.com/2227-9717/11/11/3167 #vitaminc #supplements #nutrition #influencer #vegan #plantbased #fruit #oranges #citrus #lemons #vegetables #scurvy #carnivore #keto #paleo #plantbased #fruitsalad #immune #immunesystem #maha #prevention #fatloss #weightloss #guthealth #maha
