Day 28 - I think it’s gonna be a long long time 🥲 I’ve reached the point in my recovery where progress starts to feel slow. My knee is improving quickly, the pain is fading, and things are starting to feel more natural again. But I’m limited by the meniscus repair. I want to do more, but I have to stay patient and respect the process. These next few weeks are about refinement. Fully activating the quad. Gently strengthening the hamstring. Slowly and progressively transitioning toward full weight bearing. Right now I’m restricted to 50%, not because I’m incapable, but because healing takes time. This phase is about doing less, but doing everything better. Being present with every repetition. Rebuilding strength, control, and trust step by step. It’s starting to sink in how long this journey really is. Months and months of consistent effort, with progress happening at a snail’s pace. This is the part that tests you. Showing up without immediate rewards. Staying disciplined when nothing feels dramatic. If you guessed right, you’re correct ↓ I now have an ACL in my left knee. But not in my right. And yet, the right knee is the one doing pistol squats without hesitation. I tore my right ACL over 10 years ago and chose to treat it conservatively. No surgery. No instability. No pain. Just years of intelligent strength training, progressive loading, and building true joint resilience. The body is incredibly adaptable when you give it the right stimulus. Muscles, tendons, and your nervous system can learn to stabilize and protect a joint in ways most people don’t realize are possible. This doesn’t mean ignoring injury. It means respecting it, understanding it, and training in a way that restores confidence and capacity over time. Your body reflects what you consistently ask of it. In October 2023, I had 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 (not what most people should do!) after nearly a decade of trying to avoid surgery. Here are the things I was afraid to admit – but want YOU to know: 𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗥: I was terrified of anesthesia, waking up in pain, and all the “what ifs.” Finding the right surgeon and learning about custom knee replacements from restor3d helped me let go of fear and choose trust. 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿- Some days were amazing. Others felt like I went backward. That’s normal. 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝗣𝗧- There were days I didn’t want to do the exercises. But I reminded myself: 𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘴 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘥. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘆- Once I stopped comparing my recovery to others and started measuring MY progress, everything changed. I tracked simple wins: • Could I walk farther today? • Was my range of motion improving? • Was I sleeping better? That mindset shift was everything. On Day 2 of recovery, I decided to use my experience to help others. That’s how 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗻𝗲𝗲 𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗲 was born.
