This is bad advice and here is why: 1️⃣ High risk of injury: The intensity is too high for beginners and they can’t control the movement. 2️⃣ Bad stimulus to fatigue ratio: The strength and muscle gains from negatives are small but you have to recover from high levels of fatigue and muscle damage. 3️⃣ Bad technique carry over: The negative part of a pull up is very different from the positive part. Doing negatives will not teach you the right technique. ✅ It is much better to learn your first pull up by doing Australian pull ups and band assisted pull ups. This way you get the best possible stimulus while keeping muscle damage and fatigue as low as possible. Since pulling from 90 degree is easier than from deadhang you also CAN pull up 100% if you Jump to 90 degrees. -> Put 2 and 2 together and try to jump up, controlled negative and pull back up.
